Fr Kerby only remembered the cheque after the Bishop had driven off. "Sorry about that!" Mention of a decisive meeting happening in Huntingdon this evening.

Thanks the Bishop for his kindness and goodness on the recent visitation. Encloses a cheque for £114.05 - the collection at the Confirmation Mass. Fr Kerby forgot to mention that he would liek to make a few alterations to the extension to the Church to enable a Licence for Music, Singing and Dancing. Suggested by the Parish Council at their last meeting. Fire officer recommends some changes. Fr Kerby does not expect this all to cost more than a few hundred pounds especially when parishioners are anxious to do some of the work themselves.

Stating that the Bishop's visit on 26/25 June includes First Holy Communion and Confirmation for 40 candidates. Reference to similar occasion in Haverhill. Little party to be held after confirmation on 25th June.

School's problem - bank manager advised it difficult to raise funds with current stringent regulations. Could money for the Shrine and Oil be used for this purpose? [manuscript annotation: "(No!) - Bp Parker"]. Change school status so it is no longer a senior school?
Thanks the Bishop for his help even though the difficulty still remains. Fr Cowin's invitation to the Bishop to visit him was made so the Bishop would not think him discourteous especially as he was prevented from being present at the ceremony.

Have spent over £40-0-0 on fixtures and fittings but not ready to provide an inventory as bills are awaited from tradesmen. £30 of which is mission property. Delighted with official announcement of Mrs Temple Layton's settlement - a welcome addition to income. Ramsey repairs continuing- - floor far worse than thought. Mission begins on Saturday - visiting every single house in Huntingdon [+4 places] looking for hidden Papists. "... great fun to see the stare and panic ... when I tell them I am a Catholic priest". Received with courtesy and politeness.

A light-hearted letter to Fr Wace. Bishop otherwise engaged and cannot attend the impressive programme at King's Lynn. Bishop suggests hiring a mitre to Fr Wace for the occasion - but Fr Moorcroft suggests ignoring the offer. Commission a new dance for the pilgrims...?

Last year the question of Special Ministers of Holy Communion arose - but not addressed. In August & September Fr O'Toole was incapacitated with torn ligaments and the need for these ministers became more relevant. Could Bishop come and commission them? Possibly before 1st April because of the special Mass to dedicate all those parishioners engaged in supporting roles in the Church. Would like Communion from the Chalice.
This event will be a stepping stone for Norwich on 16th May.
