Writing as one of the Trustees (Fr Flint, Presbytery, High Wycombe mentioned) for the land at Southwold - a site for a Catholic Church. Requests that the custom of not charging for the making up of roads be extended to this site - reasons for doing so:

            1. it is the site of a planned Catholic Church
            2. it will encourage Catholics to visit the town, who might go elsewhere of no Church available
            3. it is a practice extended by other Urban Councils at seaside towns to the Church of England.

Thanks the Bishop for authorising his appeals; explains costs associated with appeals can outweigh income from them. £100 only in Church Fund. Beautiful site (paid for by the Benefactress, who built Lowestoft Church); 60 in congregation (from 12/15 at start); decent chapel in town with a fair rent - need a priest's house more than a church. The wooden chapel from Birmingham suggested by the Bishop would be too small to accommodate 150-200 in Summer.

Requests for advice / dispensation for a marriage between two residents of Spain who want to be married in August.
Thanks the bishop for his Form of Application and asks if he still feels the benefits of East Coast air.

Details the significant business concerns held by Mr James Crimmen; he may have to sell Manor House (where the Oratory is located). Mr Crimmen has made many sacrifices for the mission and the situation greatly distresses him.
manuscript annotation: "Answered. Await events but meanwhile collect what you can for part of a church on new site."
