Glad to hear Fr Heptonstall was not seriously injured in the accident. Sisters' Confessions are permitted provided a screen is rigged up between him and the penitent. Very few sea coast resort priests can get away during their season - so permission for a private retreat. Enclosed small cheque [for £5] for 10 masses for private intentions.

"The Vatican has granted permission for another former Anglican clergyman, a married man, to be ordained priest in the Roman Catholic Church." Mr. John Heley was CofE vicar at St Edmund's Hunstanton.
Permission had also been given for two other former Anglican ministers earlier in the year.

[undated, unsigned] [very shaky hand] "My Lord, I think you ought to know about Fr Flynn here. He is a very ill man and something ought to be done for him. He only has Mass on Sunday - and these looks as if he might die on the altar. Only last week he was over to take a wedding but went to bed in the hotel at once, too ill to do it. I am only a visitor here and therefore it is not my business but it is very serious I beg to remain one of your Lordships flock."

Despite the meeting with Dean at King's Lynn on 17 July, no further meetings have been held. It is the PP to call them. The Bishop's visitation on 24 September: a meeting was held in Hunstanton but no-one from Dersingham knew of it. This is not going well. Need to know the arrangements so can inform five youngsters preparing for confirmation what is planned.

Meeting held with VG chairing it; points raised where:

            1. Change in mass timetable - for Hunstanton and Dersingham; £10 for each Sacramental visit, as no Collection is received by the parish from Dersingham
            2. Confessions timetable
            3. One newsletter - 4p per copy for those sent to Dersingham
            4. One pastoral council
            5. All notices to be given by PP
            6. Dersingham decisions discussed with PP
            7. PP to have a key to Dersingham church
            8. Diocesan Mailing lists to reflect one parish
Deacon Matthews asked for time to consider these.
PP now has a list of Dersingham parishioners.
PP reliant on Deacon and parishioners to develop the integration of Hunstanton and Dersingham.

Sorry for delay in response - busy preparing for the Ad Limina in Rome visit which starts tomorrow.
Can understand that Dersingham people would want confirmation to be held there. But there are time constraints, etc. - please sort out between Len Matthews and yourself. The Dean will be doing the pre-visitation report with you and Len.

At St Neots the Bishop did not look well - have a couple of days at the [Hunstanton] seaside to restore you. 3 favours: granting of faculties to Rev Stephen Sproule CSSR who is coming to give a course of instruction; dispensation for an old woman regarding Eucharist; one of the Sisters is troubled with operations and needs medicine during the night, or a cup of tea - a dispensation for her too. Quite hard-up and would welcome any Mass Intentions that the Bishop may have.
