Surprised that the Timothy Matthews project had no contact with anyone. Finally forwarding cheque from Poor Clare community in USA. David Jennings accepted for September training. Looking forward to ordaining Peter Rollings in July in Middlesborough
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Fr Langley's deteriorating health understandably gives cause for concern. There are no plans yet for Blakeney. It is a mission station and part of Walsingham/Wells parish, it is not a parish in its own right. Pastoral charge of Blakeney upon Fr Langley's death by another priest is not predictable. Bishop hopes the committee will continue to be responsible for the practical "running of the church".

An agreement between the RCDEA and Society of Mary (The Marist Fathers).
The society of Mary undertakes the pastoral care of the parish of Walsingham / Wells. One priest nominated by the Society; normal remuneration for priests in RCDEA.
In the absence of Fr Graystone, the Vicar Provincial, Father Michael O'Neill, asked that Fr Birch approach the Bishop for appointment as Parish Priest pro temp.
Since Fr John Murphy died there is a need to appoint another signatory (Fr Birch) for the Parish (Walsingham and Wells) Bank Account.
manuscript annotation: "(1) Appointment verbally given - 'temporary' (vicarius economus). (2) Requested three signatories for Bank Account."
Will not disturb the Bishop whilst he is at Ushaw. Fr Seahill left on Monday 22 July; Fr Ikegwuenu is helping currently; a holiday priest is arranged; need help from 18 Sept to 14 Oct. Bishop to arrive at Walsingham on Aug 17 and stay until 20th. Been in contact with Mr Hyes, a local solicitor, regarding a water pipe and a Wells property.
Hulme, Gerard Rev (-1978)Recently seen his Provincial in London to discuss his stay at Burnham. Originally Canon Hulme asked Fr Richmond to try and make the church a viable proposition. This has happened. When the Marists came to Walsingham he thought he'd have to move on but they asked him to stay. But, the situation is difficult for Fr Murphy, even though he allows him to continue - recently adding bell and belfry. Also looks after USAF base at Sculthorpe. Provincial thinks Fr Richmond should leave - but will be seeing Fr Murphy soon about painting the outside of the church and will make everything clear to him then.

- Use of laity for vital tasks because the diocese has too few priests. Bishop Clark called a special assembly to discuss the topic. Despite recent ordinations, there is going to be a shortfall of priests.
