Currently one parish in Huntingdon. Fr Grace has kept the accounts of St Michael and Oxmoor separate. Once repairs are made to St Michael's then Fr Grace will build up the monies for The Good Shepherd - the project must be sanctioned by the Bishop and the Finance Board. He cannot deal with Oxmoor on a personal basis - Fr Crowley is a member of a religious Order (the Damien Fathers) and not a permanent priest of the diocese. So it would be rash to build a permanent residence if the Society were to withdraw Fr Crowley and not replace him. But it is pastorally beneficial for Fr Crowley to be in Oxmoor. The Bishop will think more on this.

Would be sorry if Fr Crowley left Oxmoor; it is almost impossible to change Fr Grace's thinking. The fear is that if Fr Crowley leaves then Oxmoor may well lapse. Need Oxmoor congregation to identify the goals. Could see a slight enlargement to the hall to allow for a sanctuary area.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Fr Wilson and the bishop are not clear about the aim of the plan when it does not show the dining room and study being made into one. Ask the architect to produce a plan showing this. Despite the house being over 100 years old need to remember how much has already been spent and where the money comes from. This is absorbing so much of Huntingdon "savings". Will the church need major work?
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Multi-topic letter: Struck through are: Ransom monies; Wilson (Geoffrey); Schools Commission meeting
Oxmoor section: Decision to be made on Oxmoor - to make it semi-autonomous; Liam Crowley ready financially to go at it but it would be "near-to-bone"; need a way through "the tortuous paths of parish priest brinkmanship". Intend, when time is right, to join Whittlesey and Ramsey, and, St Michael's and the Good Shepherd (but present incumbent not on wavelength).
Bishop writes: included copy of letter to Mr Osborne (Director of Education, Isle of Ely Council) ; received plans of a church which would be suitable for March - St Mary's Littleborough (nr Rochdale); Lost a pair of grey old kid gloves in presbytery or at Parson's.
Parker, Thomas Leo Rev (1887-1975)Whilst the plan may provide an excellent room for guild meetings & quarters for Mrs Gregory, I must point out the disadvantages. May be impossible to find another tenant; also the incumbent of Huntingdon would not wish to pay for a mission house for which he has little use. Preferable is a little cottage of more marketable type and then ask yourself about modifications desired.
Tonks, Joseph Rev (1863-1943)Refers to the Tenerife Air Disaster. After 2.5 years at Oxmoor and with the current set-up he does not see a future for it. Suggest that it be run from St Michael's, and Ramsey placed with Whittlesey. Own preference is for Our lady of Lourdes, Peterborough or, Whittlesey/Ramsey. Hears that St Oswalds' might be available - Fr Byron not said anything - but would be interested.
Crowley, Liam Rev SS CC (-2019)Relates to the Bishop that Oxmoor is making a profit with expenses lower than thought. Discussion with the Architect, Mr Scott, suggests that £16,000 will see a permanent Chapel with living quarters. To do this would remove the £500 annual rent as an on-going cost. The people of Oxmoor would be greatly encouraged if we has some definite plans for development. Happy to help out at St Michael's or Ramsey.
Crowley, Liam Rev SS CC (-2019)Apologises for the fuss caused and his "disappearance" rumour is due to misunderstandings. He is not very well but cannot now go to Comer and Fr Squirrell as it is full - but will go with Fr Page to Wisbech instead.
Flynn, Charles S Rev (-1943)Freeland from Cambridge at 9.49am: "Bishop Bishops House / Npton / On way from Kings Lynn to / Bedford hope to meet you Lynn / Friday for next saturday and sunday with you approval as / more convenient generally page seems to prefer this way / Freeland"
Freeland, John Francis Rev (1861-1940)Thanks Canon Brewer for his kind words after the exasperating "discursive and discouraging irrelevancy" of the interview with the Bishop. Believes the proposed plan is the best one for the school and for the parish.
Innes, M Benet Rev OSBFr Kerby is encouraging the Bishop to write in support of the planning application recently submitted to Huntingdon DC for the church hall. Fr Kerby is encouraging parishioners to do the same. He encloses a copy of the plan (North, South and West elevations only).
Kerby, Raymond Rev (?-2009)Quotes from the 4 March 1970 letter by Fr Howlin regarding the property next to the church. It is available and will be sold by auction. The Bishop has given instructions on what to do next, including that Canon Taylor should be involved in the matter.
Moorcraft, Gerald William Rev (1936-2011)Design drawings are enclosed [not present]. Tender process from the end of this month for prices by end of February
Marshall Sisson, ArchitectDesign drawings are being prepared. Health and Safety plan required. Go to tender by end of December in time for March meeting of Finance Board.
Marshall Sisson, ArchitectFr Caulfield asked him to write to the Bishop regarding lack of progress on development plans for St Michael's. Need for diocesan representatives to show more urgency and priority for Huntingdon project. Also, the sale of the Good Shepherd has taken over three years to negotiate but lacking in information.
