Managers decided at their meeting last night that when the school is transferred to Field Lane and the Phase II of the project is complete then the school name will be St Martha's. Emphasised that in all other respects it is the same school as the present St Mary's in Church Lane of which St Martha's (Phase I) is an annexe. Noted that if Gaywood does develop as expected into a large estate then a new parish would also be called St Martha's
Brewer, Arthur T Rev BCL (-1972)Has made the decision to close the Good Shepherd Hall. Deferments by the Finance committee does not help especially when the lack of heating in the hall for the coming Winter is considered. Discussed it with the parishioners attending there. They were in agreement. New arrangements have met with support. Feels that he is now able to support Oxmoor estate more effectively - indeed, results are now showing.
Caulfield, James Edward Rev BDGlad to have been sent to Huntingdon. The fly in the ointment is Good Shepherd Hall. Presents a number of issues associated with the Hall - its need for repairs, its use within the parish, perhaps over capacity for the parish, ability to care for the people of Oxmoor estate, money spent there could be better spent elsewhere. hence after speaking to Mgr Dick Wilson and Mgr Tony Philpot plus two parish meetings he asks for permission to close the hall. Mark Little and Mgr Wilson can provide financial information.

Making suggestion that a parishioner may become a Deacon in the parish. Fr Rogers affirms that this should be considered.
Caulfield, James Edward Rev BDFr Chapman provided figured to the Vicar-General earlier in the week. Fr Chapman wishes to be relieved of Watton because his health is not robust, finding Sunday mornings an effort and is pretty exhausted at the end. Losing Watton will make a difference because in 1977 it provided £800 and for 1978 it will be more than £900. Fr Chapman is concerned that his expenditure at Wymondham parish exceeds income. Much has been done to the house, cottage and hall and now the Church needs a new rook - £4,050 + VAT. He can manage without Watton and will have to ask Wymondham and Hethersett parishioners to be more generous 0 he thinks they could be.
Chapman, Kenneth S Rev ( -1983)Fr Arthur in poor health and asking to be relieved of his duties at Burnham Market. No clear plans for the parish but Fr Richmond has agreed to look after the parish indefinitely. Next Provincial Council meeting will review this situation.
Clark, Hilary Rev SDSSuggest that the official hand over date is 9 September. Fr Richmond is happy to work at St Henry's indefinitely and Fr Arthur will go to Saltdean in Sussex to be cared for by his family.
Clark, Hilary Rev SDSNoted that Fr David Finegan is the new Dean. Provides a summary of the activities in the Parish. A paragraph on the joys and sorrows in his holiday in India. All in all the holiday was worth it.
Dasan, Vima Rev SJWishing for permission to have an extended visit to his family in India. Cover will be arranged by Fr Shryane so that Fr Michael Rear will say Sunday Mass at Burnham Market in his absence. The congregation have offered to make a retiring collection to assist in purchase of the ticket - but need the Bishop's permission to allow this as it is for personal use.
Dasan, Vima Rev SJThe retiring collection was £943 a very pleasant surprise and sufficient for a good holiday thanks to the generosity of my parishioners. Describes the trip plans. Describes the cover arranges for his absence; Fr Michael Rear, Fr John Heley, Fr David (King's Lynn) and 2 Eucharistic ministers. Thanks for the congratulations on his book "His Word Lives"

Church was built by the generous Mr C Temple Layton. Large hole under 12th station of the cross is planned to be filled with a commemorative plaque.
Province Secretary, Paul Graham provides the announcement to be read out at St Mary's.
Graham, Paul Rev OSAMet Fr Richmond, Fr Murphy & Canon Mossey - all agree boundaries would take Burnham Thorpe, North Creake and South Creake from Well; and, Brancaster, Docking and Stanhoe from Hunstanton - about 36 - 40 square miles. Fr Richmond thinks the parish is financially comfortable (I think he lives a very spartan existence). Fr Hammond did a Dean's report in 1974 and found the property to be in good shape.
Hammond, Leo Andrew Rev (1913-1999)Informing the Bishop that it is time for Fr Richmond to move after 18 years at Burnham Market (17 at USAF Sculthorpe). Last year at a retreat in Massingham Convent he saw the sisters did not have a resident chaplain. He'd like to do this next.
His replacement is Fr Victor [sic] Arthur SDS
