Guild of Ransom money should only be used according to donor intentions. If you need vestments then those in store for the Poor Mission are quite good. Let me know when you plan the opening - not Low Week I will be in London. Car advice - cover the bonnet, drain the radiator, keep it in the garage.

Fr Filmer wishes to take the sermon at the end of Mass. Propose to bless the new church on Monday [St Neots Church]. Have a tabernacle to reserve the Blessed Sacrament. Four canons plus a number of other clergy have promised to be present - hope the weather improves before Wednesday.

"My good helper lies in hospital with a broken shoulder" and will be incapacitated for some time. The work has begun on the church in St Neots and may be open for Easter. Invites the Bishop to perform the ceremony. Fr Filmer and his Guild [of Our Lady of Ransom} have been very generous.

Presents the Vestment Chest account for St Neots which is due for payment in 7 days. Asks for a date for the opening ceremony, sometime after Easter. Mission passed off well, although the Dominicans did not send their best man but still charged the rate for large parishes. Unemployment is growing in the town. Chivers Ltd. have taken over Windovers old premises to process canning peas, etc for three months of the year. The Edison Bell Co. have laid off people and word is that the company is collapsing.

Stretching the Ransomer's gift a long way. Vestments all hand-me-downs form wealthier mission - glad to get them - but not all worth of Mass. Delighted that the Bishop will come to open the church; distressed to hear of the Bishop being ill. Although Canon Youens mentions good recovery. So cold in St Neots that the car's engine froze during mass and the radiator burst.

text from clipping: "On Wednesday, at St Neots, the Bishop of Northampton, Rt Rev Dudley Cary-Elwes, Knight of Malta, dedicated the church of St Joseph - that on the left. It was originally occupied as a Baptist Church, but had for some time been in the market and was secrued and transfromed into a Catholic Church. It supplants the one to the right at Easton Ford, given some time since by Mr Alec Hunting, of Peterborough. It is in charge of Father Malone, of Huntingdon."
