"As reported in the 30th October issue of The Catholic Universe, 29 Grade I and Grade II* listed churches and cathedrals in England are to receive £3m funding for repairs and restoration projects from the Government's Culture Recovery Fund. The grant programme is part of the Government's Heritage Stimulus Fund, administered by Historic England and is aimed at supporting major repair projects which either stalled earlier this year because of Covid-19, or where loss of income due to many months of closure put urgently needed projects on hold." After one hundred years – and one hit television series – an order of nuns will be leaving their convent in Swaffham, Norwich. The Daughters of Divine Charity convent, the setting of the 2017 Channel 5 series Bad Habits, Holy Orders, has been put up for sale, and the resident sisters moving to one of their order’s sister houses in the UK. "The 630-pupil St John Henry Catholic Primary School (SJHN) and 26-place nursery, to be built in part of the development called Hampton Water, will be the first Catholic school in England to open in almost ten years. "Suffolk Catholic prisons chaplain, and former pastoral assistant, Antoinette Askin, died recently at the age of 73. Fr Tony Rogers, Tonie's colleague at both Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge and at HMPs Warren Hill and Hollesley Bay, pays tribute. Antoinette (or 'Tonie' as she was known), was Catholic chaplain at HMP Warren Hill and HMP Holles-ley Bay on the Suffolk coast. She had been in post for nearly seven years, and was a wondertul and canng friend to the residents." Story continues.
