Bishop writes: Glad to hear Fr Lydiate is arranging a Mission with the Redemptorists; but do ensure he gets a hall large enough. Bishop's itinerary includes staying with Ollard in Wisbech & before that in Cambridge. Asks Fr Lydiate to be confessor for Wisbech Convent.

Bishop writes: Would Mr Osborne (Director of Education, Isle of Ely Council) permit RC children to attend religious education prior to school start (9.45am). Been done elsewhere successfully where there is no denominational school; especially when there are a number of evacuees. Reassuring for them.

Enclose cheque for £1000 being sale price of March Presbytery & land. Asks him to send cheque to Ollard (less £450 mortgage). Suspects Canon forgot to tell Ollard about sending money to Bishop. Found by chance that new presbytery is being built. Money came promptly when Fr Clare told off ("washed his head"). Suspects Ollard overworked with his brother incapacitated.
