Borough Planning Officers - need a change of use if the vestry is to become a caretaker's flat - lists alterations which will attract need for Listed Building consent. Work (more than expected) done so far requires payment and a review of brief

IHCT have progressed work on the church until the grants ran out. Consequently some internal redecorating has not been done; although rewiring is complete. Need Meryemana input to progress application for Planning Consent

Discussed plans with Mr Mellamphy - only one disabled toilet required - plans acceptable. Stairway to bell-ringers floor impractical - will be excluded. Drawing enclosed for Vestry/Caretaker accommodation. Application to the Borough for Listed Building application for the Vestry, Toilets, Pew removal; and change of use for vestry to living accommodation. Mr Mellamphy is going away for a few weeks.

Had heard through the grapevine that the St Nicholas project had fallen through.

Mr G Webb is making a window for Slipper Chapel, Walsingham. Stated that the chapel is excluded from the Ancient Monuments Act, however, notices have been served on the Bishop that churches have been scheduled under the Town & Country Planning Act 1947, Section 7.
The Bishop explains that work needs to be done to preserve the buildings and render them useful. Asks for an "interview" to discuss the proposals for work.

Bishop Keating considers 20ft x 68 ft hut is adequate, and a bargain at £90. He will give the money to the Mission provided:

1. site is free of restrictions,
2. Fr Delaney approves and supports this
3. Congregation guarantee to obtain the funds for everything else - removal, re-erection, fittings and furnishings.
   Their zeal and generosity gave the Bishop great satisfaction.

Mr Chas A Christmas ("Elmbank", Leiston, Suffolk) says that Fr Delaney is still unable to write. He encloses an account and asks the Bishop if he can write-off £130 debt on the church account. The opening of the church has brought great happiness and awakened a new spirit towards one another and to the priest.
