Responding to Fr Flanagan regarding missing Ramsey Register. He's not got it. Understands Fr Flanagan saying that nothing in Church funds - he wonders where it has gone: money left from bazaar, Bp Elwes did stop his concerts, legacy (From Mrs Ten Broeck) of £1200. Latter can be used to repay mortgage debt. Finally more important matter - attend to my furniture?!

Enclosed plan & Frost's sketch of 1st portion of new church for March. Describes proposal in detail & reason for various aspects. New sacristy also needed. He would like to dedicate the Church to Our Lady of Walsingham as theirs was the first in the diocese to install a statue of Our Lady according to original model. If Bishop approves plan, he will send specifications. He encloses cheque for cathedraticum from Deanery clergy
Clare, Wallace George Rev FRSA, FIGRS (1895-1963)Fr O'Toole cannot accept invitation to Chrism Mass because of a prior commitment to take Communion to 16 Old people on Maundy Thursday. Not a trivial reason for not coming.
O'Toole, Laurence RevCovering letter: Fr O'Toole is asked by a secretary at The White House, Poringland to help identify a Parish for a parishioner.
Subject letter: Mrs Yoland Creasley of Hatley St George is unable to determine which parish she lives in - too many boundaries and churches nearby. East Anglia Diocesan Year Book not helpful.
"This letter is prompted by a deeply felt concern for our Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes, Sawston. " The endless consultation shows no evidence that their views are taken into account; Reports from "Called to Serve" attached. Concern over "The Laity Consultation" issued by the Cambridge Deanery - three issues are expanded upon in the letter: a) Priestless Parishes, b) Activation of the Laity, c) Parish/Deanery/Diocesan relationships. Also, "Requests for Articles" to be written by parishioners - what are the ground rules for such articles? Without clarity on how they will be judged and what activity might be triggered by them - this request may be innocent - but given the above they are concerned.
Wildsmith, AlanMemo written to Peter Wilson with the sections:
- Shelford Site - Viewed by the Bishop and aghree with Fr O'Toole on selling - no question of a church being built there;
- Estate of Mrs CM Bond Smith - Final balance of this legacy credited to the parish account. Some issue of taxation - PWilson to sort out;
- Personal transaction of Fr O'Toole - Finance a car fro personal bonds. Advice required;
- Loan to St Patrick's, Corby - Fr O'Toole receive some money and asked Parish Committee to transfer it to his old parish. They agreed and £9,000 was transferred. Bishop wishes to make sure this is clearly on the books since that parish is in a different Diocese.
Fr O'Toole sending a copy of the report prepared by Sawston parishioners for the Joint Working Party responsible for "A Time for Building". This is very much the parishioners view and Fr O'Toole does not agree with it all especially the fourth report from the Harston / Haslingfield area.
O'Toole, Laurence RevFr O'Toole sending a reponse to the questionnaire on "Twenty Years after the Second Council". He has his own responses to Question 1 to 4 and has tried to isolate himself from the views expressed by parishioners. He attended the meeting and listened only.
O'Toole, Laurence RevBishop appreciates Fr O'Toole's reports, especially his own. The resonse to "Twenty Years after the Second Council" has a remarkable convergence. Bishop asks Fr O'Toole to thank his parishioners for their "diligence and generosity in meeting to mull over the question".

O'Toole, Laurence RevFr Fennell sorry to hear about Fr O'Toole's accident and time in bed. Describing the steps taken to establish the true boundaries near the bungalow. The Baldry wall has issues too and Fr Fennell would rather show/discuss the matter in person with Fr O'Toole.

Witham, Weld and CoFr O'Toole informing the Bishop that the site at Shelford is agreed for sale at £20,000. However, Miss Margaret Magoris (only native of Shelford belonging to the parish) gave £1,000 for the church in Shelford. Whilst Fr O'Toole acknowledges that the sale fee will go to the parish, some parishioners believe that it will go to the Diocese and Miss Magoris money has "been pocketed by the Diocese!" He will correct this misinformation, but, suggests to the Bishop that perhaps they aught to reimburse Miss Magoris. The parish committee have discussed this.
Enclosed is a photograph of the Bishop with the children confirmed.
Advising Fr O'Toole that his new address will be 135 High Street, instead of 107 High St. Sawston.
South Cambridge DCBishop has asked Peter Wilson to deal with the matter of reimbursing £1,000 to Miss Magoris. Suggests that the Parish might contribute more to the St John's fund. Thanks for the picture - "it was a good occasion."
