Pleased Fr Malecki is to replace Fr Richmond at Burnham Market.
Regarding Blakeney (Fr Weaver is in agreement) - Fr Malecki to be Priest-in-Charge; Responsibility to include marriages, funerals, etc; Blakeney remain part of Walsingham/Wells parish but pastoral care transferred to Burnham Market; house at Blakeney to be looked after by the local Catholic committee.
Hope that Georgio can offer Mass there in a week's time.

Clergy deployment in East Anglia a bit opened compared to the Provincial's need for tidiness. Would like Fr Malecki to provide Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation masses at Blakeney; noting he prefers not to take over Blakeney until he knows his commitments to Burnham.

Distressed to learn of Fr Arthur's withdraw from Burnham Market. Welcomes Fr Richmond back, Glad the Salvatorians are honouring the agreement for pastoral care of the parish.

Very happy that Fr Arthur succeeds Fr Richmond at Burnham Market. Fr Richmond is an excellent priest and it is hard to realise he is no longer young. Fully support his move to Massingham.

Thinking along the same lines as Fr McBride. Encouraged by the Salvatorians' willingness to accept pastoral responsibility for the area served by Fr Hugh Richmond. Wants Fr Richmond to stay on but was waiting for the proximate division of the Diocese to give it attention. Let's meet.

Interim reply. Far from sure that Fr Murphy would welcome Fr Richmond's departure - he's a lovely person but is no longer a young man and cannot drive). Understand that Fr Richmond may want to do other duties but are there other duties?

Acknowledging that the Salvatorians have withdrawn form the Parish but hopes to appoint a good priest in the near future.

Writing to the Bishop and Fr Bradley. Conrad Rawnsley describes himself as a heretic and religious abstinent but feels he is writing on behalf of the Burnham Market community against moving Fr Malecki on. He is a man of many parts and has demonstrated a "super human" ability to master many practical building skills. It is wrong to move him on before he can enjoy the rewards of his labours. If he were to stay then his knowledge & talents could be used to direct similar constructional and maintenance work in other dioceses.

Signing himself as Francis Arthur SDS, he announces that he is now at Burnham Market and Fr Richmond has left on his holidays.

Appointing Fr Malecki to St Augustine's in Runcorn, early in the New Year. Offering Fr Frank Waters PP at Christ the King, Thornbury as a replacement.

Suggest that the official hand over date is 9 September. Fr Richmond is happy to work at St Henry's indefinitely and Fr Arthur will go to Saltdean in Sussex to be cared for by his family.

Fr Richmond has been found a chaplaincy with the Dominican Sisters in Bushey.
Fr Georgio Malecki SDS will be available for St Henry's for at least six months form 1st October. Has worked in four parishes, with the last 4 years as an assistant priest in Wealdstone. An excellent priest and it is time for him to gain experience in running a parish. Can you grant the necessary faculties?

Fr Richmond is 77. He has been at Burnham Market for three years and is requesting less responsibility. Salvatorians do not have a replacement priest available and give notice that after July/August 1989 they may not be able to supply a priest for Burnham Market.

Informing the Bishop that it is time for Fr Richmond to move after 18 years at Burnham Market (17 at USAF Sculthorpe). Last year at a retreat in Massingham Convent he saw the sisters did not have a resident chaplain. He'd like to do this next.
His replacement is Fr Victor [sic] Arthur SDS

Provincial council nominating Fr Francis Arthur SDS as replacement parish priest to succeed Fr Hugh Richmond. Fr Arthur currently at Ystradgynlais in Menevia diocese. Appointment from 12 June. Fr Richmond to become resident chaplain at the convent of Massingham St Mary. Vicar General, Mgr McBride, already aware.

Introducing himself as the new Provincial of the Salvatorians. Visited Fr Richmond and states that he has done much to build the up the church in Burnham Market and at the USAF base in Sculthorpe. As St Henry's is in the parish of Walsingham/Wells he asks if the Bishop could do something to staff the area with a priest and remove the doubt Fr Richmond has over his future.

Illness forces him to request leaving Burnham - needing rest and quiet now.
