              "Secret and Confidential" letter burnt. Amazed to receive this letter. Instructions to a Catholic Priest come from his Bishop only. So will not promise to obey the Army Council's order regarding prayers for Russian subjects. Hence tender resignation as Officiating Chaplain to the RCs at Bircham - but will offer services in an unpaid capacity - if the Wing Commander will offer transport.

              Change in status of Hunstanton - have made declarations of faith to Canon Sammons at Lynn. RAF Bircham Newton is to close on 1 January 1963, this will have an impact on the parish finances and congregation and provision of services to the RAF community. Hunstanton is increasing in size so hope a related increase in income offsets the loss of RAF Bircham Newton. have spoken to Mr Hastings about the provision of an organ loft to create more space.

              J Day (St Joseph's, Farnborough Road, Farnborough, Hants) asking if Fr Flynn, as nearest RC clergy, could be the officiating clergyman for Air Force personnel at Bircham Newton. 14 Catholics on the airdrome - numbers may be increasing.
