His Life Insurance Policy is fully paid up (no more premiums) and is worth £250. What is the procedure to transfer to the Diocese? He has not asked for money, but is waiting till the end of the year to make up the accounts - will write in January. The total rent is £56 (Church £16; House £40), would the Diocese advance capital against this expenditure if a suitable site became available?

Fr Reeman is writing from St Theresa's presbytery in Beaconsfield to Canon Thomson. Thanking him for the £15 cheque. Fr Reeman is a bit hard up now he is on curate's pay having resigned [from Aldeburgh parish]. Not having drawn any salary for several months Fr Reeman thought the Aldeburgh parish could afford something for him. Missing Biretta and Dictionary found in sacristy? Might Leiston and Aldeburgh be making a presentation?

Fr Reid offers an rationale as to why he was absent at the Finance meeting and having not provided an explanation at the time. He does not wish to be ungracious. Too much on: parish work, Province work, Ecumenical meetings (2-3 per week in Yarmouth!), 4 Mass centres, 3 schools, Parish administration and demands of the Order. So he missed recording the meeting's date. Sounds feeble but his health dictates somewhat - as an ME sufferer, and the diet is Lenten all the time. Also the departure of Denis Condon from here and subsequently from religious life and the exercise of priesthood - told Fr James at the time.

Mr Toller has been in touch for agent details to begin negotiating. Rev Isaacson's information has been passed to him. An official form of Redundancy of All Saints is being drafted and will be on public view for 6 weeks. Opposing comments will be investigated; there is a small, vociferous opposition. Rev Isaacson thinks it may be April / May before the Church is handed over. Fr Richmond is making a list of tasks to be done and hopes it will be within his financial scope.

Church Commissioners are asking that they be re-reimbursed for the Church. Bishop of Lynn has suggested an alternative - minimal rent. With this in addition to the repair costs, the parish could not afford it. St Henry's, though, is in good condition and has room for expansion.

A sudden need for £2000 requires a decision from the Bishop; but, cannot afford a significant delay which will be incurred if the Holy See has to be consulted for their decision. Also mentions the disappointment likely to be experienced by the congregation.
If the Bishop can assign another Parish Priest with the means to pay the sum, then he can have Fr Sammons' resignation.

Lays out his approach to financing the new building at Gaywood. The architect, Mt Oak, reckons to do a good job within the government allowance. Raise £4,000 over 10 years (£8 per week); perhaps the unused money for the Shrine (£650) can be borrowed; Canon Hunting can add a hundred or two.
Restructure the School Managers - take his brother off, introduce the bank manager, remove Dr Fogarty (has to go anyway after his part in last year's "schemozzle" - gone with Mrs S to the Cardinal). Hiring temporary accommodation will cost 30/- per week.

Notes that Canon Brewer is in hospital and that the Bishop has asked Fr Sammons to contact Fr Jenkinson instead. He needs to arrange for a loan for the next step in the school building programme. The bishop has advised that the best approach to get a loan from the ministry [he quotes from the Bishop's letter at length regarding the management and use of loans]. The Bishop had agreed to the appointment of Mr Waite as the architect.

Requests an indication of the costs not being met by parental contributions - once he knows this then he can make a claim on the Catholic Education Council.
Apologies for the impression that cost was holding up hiring extra accommodation. Currently waiting for an Inspector from the Ministry. All saints' Hall does not meet the minimum requirements for light, etc. Concerned for staff and children who must find it hard to concentrate.
