Offering position of "Clerk of Works"; to be appointed by the diocese; some terms of employment; start late summer.
Denis Tuttle Architecture LtdSt Cecilia's Church Committee describe a number of factors which convince them that a resident priest is needed for Dersingham: the departure of Andrew Kingcomb leaves a large gap as he fulfilled many roles - organist, Eucharistic minister, religious instruction for children; Fr Nesden is not well and needs support for the Parish; accommodation is available and can only be occupied by a priest; they believe that Fr Charles Howarth (from the Convent of The Daughters of Jesus, Great Massingham) would be interested in parochial duties.
CorrespondentSome time since Fr Morley left - what are the Bishop's intentions for Dersingham? People could start looking for another priest. Organ installed soon at St Cecilia's.
CorrespondentStuart Grant: Dersingham group have been consulted, they would like to get Fr Flynn to Dersingham. What needs to be done next? Is the Bishop to take the lead or should they do it?
CorrespondentDr Philip Marshall MRCS MRCP DPH reporting on Fr Flynn's health and well being. He describes Fr Flynn as an active, inquisitive and intelligent man who needs not to be idle for 9/10s of the year but engaged in a busy Mission. Many think well of him. He has been frank about his past problems with alcohol - he suffers from Intestinal Toxaemia which is exacerbated by drink. His life does not engage him, but makes him mope and become melancholic.
CorrespondentDr Sexton writing to thank the bishop for noting their petition and promptly appointing Fr Stokes to the parish
CorrespondentFr Ahearne had written to the Bishop on 5th March to say he had been elected Provincial of the Anglo-Scottish Province, and a Chapter would take place on 27th March. They have made changes in personnel agreed at a Provincial Chapter at Austin Friars in Carlisle on 4/5 April. The community at St Mary's Great Yarmouth will be:
John Reid - Parish Priest
Hieran O'Brien - Prior
Killian O'Mahoney
Denis Condon
Signed by Fr Ahearne as Provincial & John Reid as Secretary.
[St Cecilia]Church is completed and mostly furnished. Great welcome from the community - 60 at Sunday Mass. "...although I believe the church and house will almost certainly remain twice the size it might have been." Fr Nesden helpful and kind. Looking forward to seeing the Bishop on March 23.
