Has received the cheque and paid Mr Bardell. Mr & Mrs Wilkin will be please to receive the bishop when he comes to Lynn. Not at the Royal Christening [of future King Edward VIII] probably due to the Prince being disappointed over the church. The Prince had said Fr Wrigglesworth should appeal to Rome.
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Fr Wrigglesworth argues that the school is the centre of the mission and without it then the mission will fail. He argues that the children will have to go to protestant schools when his school has to close. Despite all he has done the building fund is £444.11.8, which includes the Duke of Norfolk's £50 promise. He awaits the bishop's decision.
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Has no alternative to pay the Diocese 4%, especially as the bishop may object to him seeking better terms elsewhere. Glad to know the bishop confirms his idea on the National Anthem.
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Plans for new school [not present] to accommodate 33 infants and 113 mixed.

Hopes the bishop will be able to come by a date in early May whilst avoiding Market day (on a Tuesday), as he would like to perform May devotions in his new church.
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)No all monies provided by Canon Osman. Appeal not going well. Wrote to the well to do people in Hull and only 2 or 3 have acknolwedged. Appeals in the papers not covering their cost. Provised a list of appeal contributors with amounts. It will be years before the Church is rebuilt".
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)side 1/3: new design better and costs less (£700 less); Appeals not achieving any return. Repairs are mounting up; gas pipes leaking; church flooding as gutters are failing; nave damaged; windows broken. Hope the bishop will means [to progress].
sides 2/4: balance sheet to 16 March 1889
Sir Lewis Jarvis death (banker in Lynn) means that Jarvis Bank monies will be managed by Messrs Gurney & Co. Fr Wrigglesworth not sure of them and asks whether London and Provincial might be better option.
Wants another remittance from Canon Osman as the Canon will not have vouchers to show the inspector [Building?].
The bishops donation for £50 had coincided with Mr Hubbard's certificate for £350 which had been paid. The work on the church is all paid for.Church is covered and felted with slates going on next week. Hoping for an opening on March 25th
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Thanks the bishop for the promised £300. Still need the bishop's authorisation to proceed with the new school building. Suggests going for a single tender to a local ("the largest and best") builder in Lynn (Mr Bardell) as he attends church and is interested in education and subscribes t the school.
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Cost of land is £548.9.6, cost of school to be £850. Duke of Norfolk will visit Lynn and also Norwich at some point.

Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Cheque for £11.10.0 enclosed [not present] for interest on £75 with £10 off principal. Captain Curties is now advertising to Fr W's congregation that he has a chapel with the "B. Sacrament reserved there". What concessions have been given to this man? They will have been obtained fraudulent misrepresentation "as one day you will find out"..
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Captain Curties is not all he seems. Fr Wrigglesworth explains, at length, the problems he has with this man. Fr W has tried to accommodate this man's wishes (see story about the chalice). In fact Fr W suggests that reparation, etc. should be made to him by Captain Curtis after the mischief he and his agents have brought to this congregation. God will put everything right in his own time.
Wrigglesworth, George Rev (1851-1900)Contract required for conveyancing. Bishop asked to visit to see the site and perhaps talk to Mr Lunn. Had 44 communions out of a total of 67 on Sunday - is there a change coming over Lynn?
