Writing to a "Dr Ibbett" to apply for non-fasting communion for:
Gives permission requested. Asks after Dr Helsham.
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)leave for non-fasting communion permission for Mrs Emmaline Ann Shauve. Tax to pay 5/1 (23 lira) to be sent to the Bishop for forwarding to Rome.
Nothing for Sister Huberta, presumably gone to another congregation for the Religious.
Leave for non-fasting communion permission for Sister Huberta. Tax to pay 2/- (8 lira) to be sent to the Bishop for forwarding to Rome. This is unlimited use but only for times of illness.
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Bickerdike was one of many excluded when the Beati list was winnowed from 250 as over 100 were turned down - perhaps later. Be careful about managing the fund (permission granted) and keep the monies for building/support separate from other monies. Recognise the need in such missions to harvest in-season to weather the off-season. Take care about the Squire - he has to change his ways before being received into the church. Exhortation to be prudent, discipline of a "common sense hardness".
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Glad to hear Fr Heptonstall was not seriously injured in the accident. Sisters' Confessions are permitted provided a screen is rigged up between him and the penitent. Very few sea coast resort priests can get away during their season - so permission for a private retreat. Enclosed small cheque [for £5] for 10 masses for private intentions.
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Thanks for the advice not to move with regard to the LMS [Latin Mass Society]. Have received another letter - not brash, kind - but still not inclined for a change of mind. Send any information which would influence the decision.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Writing to Rev R B Higgins, USAF, Catholic Chaplain at RAF Lakenheath
Granting Fr Richmond permission to assist USAF chaplaincy at Scunthorpe [sic] [Sculthorpe] and testifies he is a valid priest.
Fr Nesden is your parish priest; happy for Dersingham to be in the care of Fr Flynn. No problems in saying Mass. Don't go too fast about "Proposed new Church Building" - some prior discussion is necessary.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)No intercommunion [underlined]. This is the "pain" whilst our two churches are unreconciled. The congregation can attend on a special occasion. Explains the underlying reason for this.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Acknowledges that permission was given to Bishop Luker to celebrate Mass in the Holy Spirit chapel attached to the Slipper Chapel. Willing to express permission subject to the Director doing so too. Most interested in your "itinearium ad Deum".
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Provided Fr Allen agrees, then he gives permission for a Tridentine Mass as last year. Same restrictions apply - Fr Paul Chavasse, officiating, is accepted.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)[Draft text]
Bishop does not know of the organisation West Mercia Roman Catholic Mission nor how it integrates with Catholic Churches and the Diocese of Shrewsbury. He would need to know a great deal more before granting permission for the Tridentine Mass at Walsingham. Bishop sets out that such permission is for private, small groups, a minimum of publicity, and a genuine spirit of devotion. That a weekend long pilgrimage is planned does not meet these requirements. The Latin Mass Society have long pleaded their case but the Bishop is adamant that no public manifestation of divisiveness can be sanctioned or endorsed at Our Lady's Shrine.
"Under the present circumstances I see no objection to your having a public oratory at Gillingham under the usual conditions."
Kenyon, John George (1843-1914)He has not participated in the St Felix pilgrimage because he considers the blessing of the sea, success to sailors and fishing, prayers against coastal erosion, as being sensational and meaningless adornments (witness headlines in the Universe) to the pilgrimage. Also, having asked Bishop Rudderham to lead the pilgrimage and do what the Bishop disapproves of is a tacit criticism of his own attitude. If this item is dropped from the agenda then he shall be pleased to tell the Bishop of Clifton that he will be welcome to come .
Parker, Thomas Leo Rev (1887-1975)Fr John Smith: Bishop Clark has granted permission to sell the picture from the Sacristy. Provided no-one else has an interest in it
Bishop's OfficeThe Bishop is reluctant to allow leave to reserve the Blessed Sacrament at isolated places such as St Thomas More chapel in Hemsby. But as Fr Webb says it was justified last year then he grants permission provided due care is taken to see that the church is properly attended by a reliable person.
Bishop's OfficeUnless there has been a change in intended use for the building then the previous planning permission will stand. If there is a widening of uses then planning permission needs to be applied for.
Borough of King's Lynn"The Vatican has granted permission for another former Anglican clergyman, a married man, to be ordained priest in the Roman Catholic Church." Mr. John Heley was CofE vicar at St Edmund's Hunstanton.
Permission had also been given for two other former Anglican ministers earlier in the year.
