Bishops suggests an informal Visitation at Leiston; formal at Aldeburgh.

Fr John Smith writes to say that the Visitation scheduled for 16 April [1978] will now take place on 19 November 1978, following Fr Thomson's willingness to reschedule.

Suggest Aldeburgh visitation at 6.30pm before Confirmation as it's a bit of a strain to get to Leiston and back in time to do it all again at 11 in Aldeburgh.

Option to visit Leiston for 9.30 mass and brief visitation. Breakfast at the Smith's; leave for Confirmation and Visitation at 8 at Aldeburgh. High Mass on Tuesday at which Fr Mason will preach.

Referring to the Ad Clerum 3/87 7(b), requesting permission for ceremonies on Good Friday and Holy Thursday at Aldeburgh and Leiston. Verona Fathers have offered a supply. Looking forward to seeing the Bishop on April 5th.

Fr Hammond has not yet told the sick brethren about the visit and says the Bishop will be free to do the Baptism. He has been invited to join the Bishop for Saturday supper and Sunday lunch.

Visitation was delight. Apologises for the Finance Committee's letter - they were asked to point out that he was not associated with their comments. Committee will be convened when John Lanning returns from holiday in Italy. Hopes the bishop "got suited re Housekeeper".

Fr Davidson sets out the timetable for the Visitation. 20 children and 1 adult for confirmation at Leiston - then coffee after Mass is an opportunity to meet the congregation. Mrs Russell has offered her house, next to the church, for the Aldeburgh congregation to meet the Bishop. 10 housebound parishioners to be seen which will take 2 to 3 hours over 30 miles. One of the bed-ridden he'd like the Bishop to confirm.
