Fine about Rome trip. Finances highly credible - but carry on with the weekly £15 form the Sick Clergy Fund (explain more when we meet). Uncle situation - good for a time but eventually he will need proper care.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Not keen on paying for the church, or even renting it. The original proposition was affordable if taken steadily. If the Church Commissioner's remain steadfast then we may think of an extension to St Henry's.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Issues about the church: suitable for today's liturgy, etc,; whether a financial transaction is involved; enough money for necessary restoration. No diocesan funds at the moment - the bishop has his own roof problem!
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)"Jenny" writing to say that £500 was sent to Fr Gerry [Langley] from the Ransom Guild last year. It was explicitly identified by the Bishop for personal use by Fr Gerry.
Bishop's OfficeSummary of finances issued to the congregation by the parish priest. 1995 compared with 1994
Income and expenditure itemised under broad headings showing a surplus of £205 and £166.13 in current account.
Comment that visitors help; debt paid off; still need £2000 to rewire the house - a job not done in 1990.
Advise the Roman Catholics to accept a lease - a flexible arrangement with advantages for both sides. Terms of lease is for the Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance, but expect it be 99 year lease with no premium and a peppercorn rent. Roman Catholics to care and maintain the building; insure it for damage; alteration would be reported to the [Anglican] Diocese; clauses to limit use to worship and prevent disturbance of graveyard; allow relatives to tend graves. Commissioners prefer a sale than a gift.
Church Commissioners (1948-)Financial situation needs clarification. On the telephone the Bishop had said that Blakeney is the VG's responsibility.
Note that this arrangement is for 6 months - a breathing space - whilst we consider what is to be done.
Fr Malacki expects to move in on 6 October.
Understands the issues with Blakeney but does not think he will have any financial problems with his private income and money from the Church). When would the Bishop like him to start, after Canon Higham leaves on 20th October?
Finch, Michael Rev (-1986)Written to thank Mgr Stark for cheque received. The Bundocks expect to move into Norwich very soon.
Graystone, Philip Rev SM (1921-2014)Met Fr Richmond, Fr Murphy & Canon Mossey - all agree boundaries would take Burnham Thorpe, North Creake and South Creake from Well; and, Brancaster, Docking and Stanhoe from Hunstanton - about 36 - 40 square miles. Fr Richmond thinks the parish is financially comfortable (I think he lives a very spartan existence). Fr Hammond did a Dean's report in 1974 and found the property to be in good shape.
Hammond, Leo Andrew Rev (1913-1999)Thanks for information on Cathedral Fund. Contacted Canon Hunting re £148 and Bishop's suggestions. £950 Oddfellows Hall debt. Hostel sums: £3,639 (capital) and £4194 (maintenance). House is being paid for out of current money. Work on this house draws to a close.
Hulme, Gerard Rev (-1978)Thanks for authority to borrow from Fr Hacon for Blakeney. Have paid out £1948-18-4 (including some furniture) - owe builder £700 which will be borrowed from Fr Hacon. Extra windows and six heaters expected to be less than £250. Architect's bill expected to be £100. Benches to cost £100 (but already promised this). Will pay remaining £350 out of income.
Hulme, Gerard Rev (-1978)Fr Graystone will cover for Fr Langley if he goes on holiday from 25 April. Uncle Basil died on 31 December last year hence Fr Langley is alone but that suits him. Does not know how viable the parish is - will be in touch later - Uncle Bob used to contribute £90 per month but he's not eating now. Who was it let Fr Langley in for a Tridentine Requiem Mass on Maundy Thursday?
Langley, Gerard Rev (-1992)Thanks the Bishop for the grant of £1000 towards the £2000 to rewire the house. Able to raise £1000 for the Church electrics last year - so expects to do the same again. Will write to Mgr Stark about how the money will be spent.
Lloyd, Thomas Rev CP (1932-1998)Drawing the Bishop's attention to the fact that Blakeney only just broke even in 1997 and that was with the help of other monies such as the Poor Parish Fund. Included an extract from a parishioner's letter (Colonel Bernard Crowe) who was a member of St Peter's committee.
Lloyd, Thomas Rev CP (1932-1998)Mr Toller has been in touch for agent details to begin negotiating. Rev Isaacson's information has been passed to him. An official form of Redundancy of All Saints is being drafted and will be on public view for 6 weeks. Opposing comments will be investigated; there is a small, vociferous opposition. Rev Isaacson thinks it may be April / May before the Church is handed over. Fr Richmond is making a list of tasks to be done and hopes it will be within his financial scope.
Richmond, Hugh Rev SDS (1912-)Church Commissioners are asking that they be re-reimbursed for the Church. Bishop of Lynn has suggested an alternative - minimal rent. With this in addition to the repair costs, the parish could not afford it. St Henry's, though, is in good condition and has room for expansion.
Richmond, Hugh Rev SDS (1912-)Parishioners were informed last Sunday which brought the Salvatorians involvement formally to an end. The Provincial Bursar will be in touch about the financial arrangements with Fr Wilson.
Sullivan, Richard Rev SDSStandard form from RCDEA completed in manuscript.
Poor photocopy - assumed to be Blakeney
