Part of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, King's Lynn

Massingham Nuns: not had contact with them - wish two of them to take over the infants department. The Servite nuns will be going to Jamaica. Trouble in filling the consequent vacansies for teachers.
King's Lynn Overspill: 10,000 East-end Londoners will move here over the next 10 years. Offer of a site for a church. Investigating it with Canon Roberts and Alderman Claxton.

Plan for Bishop's approval. Fiance Board can discuss this later. The boilerhouse should be done now. 'The Ministry are prepared to allow a more elaborate Sanctuary if we pay for it - at least in Secondary Schools. Bit this "Store Room" sanctuary would perhaps be enough for the needs of a Mass Centre at Gaywood.'
pencilled annotation [Bishop Parker]: "Is it possible to have a second storey?"

Part of St Benet's Minster Parish, Beccles

With Sterret at the Ministry - they are likely to approved the adaptation of the presbytery at Beccles as a School. There are a few aspects which need addressing: Daylight in the Hall, Kitchen/Scullery space, paved playground. Need to update the sketch to show these adjustments.
The ESN [Educationally Sub-Normal - a contemporary term] pupil could be sent to Besford Court.

No reply from Headmaster at Leman school regarding provisions for RI for RC children. Architects Sterret & Blouet of Ashley Place SW1 instructed but only produced two sketches, still awaiting their brain child. Ministry will allow for one classroom but want two. Build it myself if necessary. Saw the Bishop in Southwold and in his customary manner he assumed I had not asked you for advice, I was too bored to enlighten him.

Part of The Sacred Heart Parish, St Ives

First draft of extension for St Francis of Assisi in Papworth Everard. Fr Doupe likes it; architect needs approval before producing detailed plans and specification. Porch rather larger than originally envisaged in response to architect pointing out the extension design only allowed for a four foot wide entrance - not very imposing. SAE enclosed for return of plan.

Part of Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury Parish, Wymondham

Mr Butler, an Architect, has not yet met the Bishop but has met his two predecessors. when at Burnham Overy, Norfolk. A year ago Fr Ketterer asked him to Wymondham. Mr Butler has subsequently spent many hours designing a church for Wymondham and for Dereham (a particularly difficult site). This he did for a token fee of £10 paid by Fr Ketterer. Mr Butler designed the church at Wells-next-the-Sea. He now understands that the Bishop is not pleased but he has no intelligence of what has happened to his design work since sending it off. This is not about pride, but as an architect with experience in Churches, Country homes, Oxford Colleges and monuments, he would like to know what is happening; perhaps a little recognition and hope that the plans are not lost.
