The writer is directed by the Board of Trustees to ask for a reply to their letter of 15 December 1909. Fr Purcell is asked what arrangements he has made regarding the properties from which he receives rent. The writer call to Fr Purcell's notice that if the properties are not kept in good repair then "Mr Pauling, the great benefactor of your mission may cease to take further interest in the work at St Ives".
[The letter ends at this point - it is an unsigned draft]

Thanks Fr Kerby for the CAFOD collection. Bishop wishes he had had a word with the matron, she may have known John Marden. Advises Fr Kerby to do a good painting and repair job on the house as it is getting tatty.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)John Smith has responded to Fr Nesden regarding those nominated for the Bene Merenti Medal. Thanks for accepting, in principal, the funding for Cathedral repairs. Contact Peter Wilson regarding the re-roofing Fr Nesden has.

Huntingdon District Council require:
- proof that the diocese is a registered charity
- trustee authority to complete the work
They will probably allow a grant. Estimated works cost £4,847.13 plus VAT of £726.99
Thanks for £200 cheque [from the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom?]. Mr Toller has advised on Ramsey church and will seek a builder for the re-pointing of the church.
Grace, George E L Rev (-1998)Report on progress of repairs to house and church. Church: decorated, electrical work, gas fire - at a cost of £80 instead of estimte of £168. House: new plumbing, steel sink, cleaned throughout, re-decoration, new gas fired central heating system, floor covering with Dunlop vynyl. Expected housekeeper not yet made up her mind.
Howlin, Laurence F, RevThree new covenants and cheque for Family Fast enclosed [not present]. Damage to house includes guttering, fence, roof slates. May be difficulty in getting a builder "in the local circumstances". Sacristy floor covering 27 years old and needs replacing.
Howlin, Laurence F, RevPlumbers take their time - but at least Fr Howlin gets what he wants. Received £50 from "ANON" and forwards it as part of parish funds. In case ANON wants it back or wants to know how it was spent, he lists the serial numbers of the three notes (2x£20, 1X£10)
Howlin, Laurence F, Revcovering letter requesting approval for the quotation for work to be done on the house
Howlin, Laurence F, RevHave spent over £40-0-0 on fixtures and fittings but not ready to provide an inventory as bills are awaited from tradesmen. £30 of which is mission property. Delighted with official announcement of Mrs Temple Layton's settlement - a welcome addition to income. Ramsey repairs continuing- - floor far worse than thought. Mission begins on Saturday - visiting every single house in Huntingdon [+4 places] looking for hidden Papists. "... great fun to see the stare and panic ... when I tell them I am a Catholic priest". Received with courtesy and politeness.
Lockyer, Frederick W Rev (-1954)Cannot understand Fr Tonks' letter - provide fuller particulars?
Lockyer, Frederick W Rev (-1954)Undated letter. Apologies for delay in responding to a letter with enclosures of 20 October [1912?]: new fire-grate fitted but not ordered; new boarded floor - knows nothing about it; ball[?] rejected/cancelled the work when large iron frame made - ball still on the sacristy floor; ordered a new exterior lamp; ordered the gas main to be attached to existing services; only instructions to Marriot were about the colour of the walls. Queries the cost of other items - £8-13-0 cost of priest's order, £16-6-3 (plus £7-10-0) is Bateman & King's own cost done at their own authority. Complains that his views on the work were not sought and Canon Tonks has taken the workmen's words against his own. The work is required because the dilapidation is due to others before he set foot in the mission.
Lockyer, Frederick W Rev (-1954)Cannot understand what is not clear in the estimate for work at Ramsey. Best if Fr Tonks visits and sees for himself. Will get King there too.
Lockyer, Frederick W Rev (-1954)Let Royal know about the storm damage - we pay first £15 on presbytery, first £25 on Church. OK for recovering the sacristy floor.
Moorcraft, Gerald William Rev (1936-2011)Requests assistance from the Poor Mission Fund. He has had repairs in both the House (flooring fell in) and the Studio (had to make flooring good for any new tenant). The £35 is beyond his ability to meet; he has not asked for many years; would Canon Tonks put in a good word for him?
Purcell, James Rev (-1942)Thanks Canon Tonks for putting his application before the Finance board. Mission income is:
Endowment £10.8.9 quarterly = £41 15
Rent studio - £10 per annum = £10
Rent Yard - £5 per annum = £5
Collections / Altar Fund c. 7/- per week = £16 16
Total is £73.11.0 per annum
Studio, let in May to an artist, vacant for many months before that. Describes the rotting floors and ascribes it to the severe flooding of 1912.
Thanks for £20 towards cost of repairs.
Purcell, James Rev (-1942)
