Agreement covering the FMM sisters stay in March. Review/renew every 3 years. Presbytery to be renamed Assisi Convent; covers sisters working week, annual leave and remuneration (in the light of rent-free stay at the Convent.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Has received the Walsingham document and will decipher and copy it. Pleasant to stay at Presbytery. Looking forward to the pilgrimage as not attended for a long time.
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Fr Langley's deteriorating health understandably gives cause for concern. There are no plans yet for Blakeney. It is a mission station and part of Walsingham/Wells parish, it is not a parish in its own right. Pastoral charge of Blakeney upon Fr Langley's death by another priest is not predictable. Bishop hopes the committee will continue to be responsible for the practical "running of the church".
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Will be instructing Chris Toller to deal with both presbyteries and make arrangements for letting them.
Smith, Peter David Gordon Rev LLB JCD (1943-2020)Enclose cheque for £1000 being sale price of March Presbytery & land. Asks him to send cheque to Ollard (less £450 mortgage). Suspects Canon forgot to tell Ollard about sending money to Bishop. Found by chance that new presbytery is being built. Money came promptly when Fr Clare told off ("washed his head"). Suspects Ollard overworked with his brother incapacitated.
Cary-Elwes, Dudley Charles Rev (1868-1932)Bishop advises that deeds for presbytery (Normanhurst plots 34 & 35?) are with Withams. As is the separate deed for church plot. Good idea to have a church hall, but, all costs, etc. must go through Finance Board, which meets on 26 February. Bishop is at the Convent in Ipswich and could deal with the matter himself if it is urgent. Does Fr Jolly know anything about Mrs Spencer of Thoringham, Saxmundham? May have lunch there and might meet Fr Jolly there too.
Bishop's OfficeCovering letter for the Quinquennial inspection report on Church and Presbytery, North Everard St, King's Lynn.
It identifies items needing attention on Church & Presbytery in the first year.
Relating to the March Presbytery and rental properties: Letters from Fr W Clare (7), Fr L Allen(7), Canon Tonks(1), GF Stokes(1), AP Peacock(1), Ollard(2); Postcard from Fr Clare; Bills/invoices (15) from Insurance Co., Utilities & Councils; Agreements for construction and rent; Rent Account (1910 & 1911); Inventory (1941 - Fr Mortimer J Hanagan); Inventory (1948 - Rev W J Gaffney); Fr Gerard Collins to Bishop (Parker) - his critical survey of Chatteris house (11-7-1953).
Allen, Louis Rev (-1931)Canon Burditt (Diocesan Officer for Areas of Expansion) reports in a visit made to King's Lynn at Fr Hammond's invitation. The purpose was to advise on which of two plots being offered by the Council for a new Catholic Church. Describes local demographics for the town and for Catholics. The two site being Marsh Lane and Reffley. On balance the two sites are about equal; Fr Hammond has a preference for Reffley. So, Canon Burditt recommends that the Reffley site be considered for development as a Catholic Church and presbytery.
Burditt, Noel Rev (-2000)Provision of Church & presbytery in Wymondham a very great work and quite necessary. But need thorough consideration. The Vicar-General has experience in purchasing sites; need to consider current and future needs. Is Norwich growing towards Wymondham or vice versa?
Tonks, Joseph Rev (1863-1943)Requesting that Fr Wace settle the account for maintenance work done in the presbytery.
manuscript annotation: "? 1. Leak near my door / 2. Lacante bulging."

A number of issues identified for the church - water seepage; stonework needs attention; gas heating causes condensation and feels less warm (winter weekdays Mass offered in sacristy).
The presbytery is in good condition - rewired and redecorated (kitchen and 1 bedroom still to be redecorated)

W Palmer & SonTS Innes, assitant to the director, writes about the explanation Freemans had given regarding the muddle associated with Fr Wace's original letter [to Mr De'Ath]. Gas board has been contacted regarding the gas fired boiler. The light fittings will have to be seen in London as there are no suppliers' showrooms in King's Lynn. It depends on whether he wishes contemporary designed fittings or more commonplace ones. Catalogue enclosed [not present].
