Part of Catholic Women's League - East Anglia Branch

Mrs. Marigold VF Quihampton (EA Branch President) writing. Noting that from 1999 groups will no longer be allowed to hold special masses on a Sunday in St John's Cathedral. CWL holds the AGM on alternate Saturdays and Sundays every year in SJB. The Pope has asked that special masses for groups not be held on Sundays to avoid disrupting parish life. This is advice and is open to the incumbent Bishop's interpretation. The Norwich Section CWL is the oldest in the country, founded in 1912, and through its own resources has little impact on the Cathedral except for its use once a year. Hope to solve this problem with the Bishop's help.

The Holy Father's "Dies Domini" is a solemn teaching document to which we all should respond with due respect and allegiance. It is a 95-page document dealing with the importance of Sunday and the Sunday Eucharistic celebration. Bp Peter asks that the CWL appreciate that a Sunday is not an appropriate day for the [AGM]. Suggest Saturday instead.
