The Superior of the Brompton Oratory has waived all claims to any legacy that might accrue instead to Hunstanton Mission of the Monastery at Permaermawr. The Superior at the monastery has suggested that the executors should be paid in full and any balance be divided 40% to Hunstanton and 60% to them. If the Bishop approves, then they will proceed on that basis.

Part of Our Lady and St Peter Parish, Aldeburgh

Letter is about having a foundation at Aldeburgh with the Bishop's permission. Outlines the group's legality, number (5) and current position. The school performance; conversions of pupils / parents / family; finances (may have £350 in hand once deal done with Chatham nuns). Describes Fr Davidson's efforts to bring them to Aldeburgh. Mr Fooks has their interest at heart. Acknowledged that Mother General (Sisters of Mary congregation in Namur) may work to influence the Bishop against their work - this failed with regard to Bishop Amigo. Requests an audience with the Bishop to discuss these matters. Provides copies of the Prospectus, Last Prize Distribution and a 1922 photograph of the pupils [not available]. Suggests that their Aldeburgh Boarding School will be separate from the Day School.

Part of Our Lady and St Peter Parish, Aldeburgh

Most interested in establishing a foundation in Aldeburgh. However, financially not strong. 5 sisters (3 choir; 1 lay). Took over the school from the Chretienne Sisters in 1921 and are under the direction of the Abbot Egan of St Augustine's Abbey in Ramsgate. They are closing because a large, fully equipped and funded Convent Day school is opening in Chatham. All their capital is tied up in the property. Enclosed photograph [not available] of their children. Possibility of a benefactor to guarantee 3 years' rent whilst they establish a school? Cardinal Serafini has promised to obtain all permissions to establish an English novitiate.

Sr Scholastica advising the Abbot of progress. The Chatham Sisters may but the property provided the price is right. Fr Davidson has visited and anxious because 1. another buyer exists for the house in Aldeburgh and the Estate Agent has only given him 2 weeks to decide; 2. He may only be able to obtain the rent for the first year. The Estate Agent offered reduced rent if necessary. Asks the Abbot to write to the Bishop soon; she will also write soon.
