Pointed observations on British Council of Churches and priests being married (before or after ordination). Mentions that neither Our Lord nor St John the Baptist said one word to criticise the politicians and economic institutions at the time [supported by several Latin quotations].
Watkin, Aelred Rev MA FSA FRSA FRHistS (1918-1997)Acknowledges the impact of the departure of a capable priest like Fr Hypher. However, the arrangement to help the Benedictine partners was always going to be temporary. Cannot deprive other parishes of effective pastoral leadership. Fr Gates will minster generously to your needs.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)The trigger for Fr Flynn's illness was the concern he had for his family - his old complaints (Gastritis & Neurasthenia) came back and he took stimulants (but not in excess). He is very fearful and nervous of telling the Bishop of his problems - so Fr Page suggests the Bishop write to Fr Flynn and encourages him to report on the situation. Fr Page must contact and warn Mrs Ingleby as Fr Flynn is asking who may have written to the Bishop. Fr Page has promised to return to see Fr Flynn but has concerns that there might not be any trains as a number have already been taken off.
Page, George Joseph Rev (1864-1937)Having heard from a reliable source that Fr Flynn had missed celebrating mass on Passion, Palm and Low Sundays, omissions of duty that Fr Flynn had failed to inform the Bishop about, the Bishop demands a full explanation in accordance with canon law 1947ff and 2182ff.

UnknownAppointment of Fr Olindo Cramaro to Southwold.
"The Rev Olindo Cramaro, who for the past 16 months has been a curate at St John's Roman Catholic Cathedral, has been appointed by the Bishop of East Anglia, the Rt Rev Alan Clark, as parish priest at Southwold.
Father Cramaro, a 56-year-old Italian, is to succeed Fr James Sloan, 71, who after 10 1/2 years at Southwold and 33 years as a priest, is taking complete retirement. The extensive parish has two churches, that of the Sacred Heart, Southwold, adjoining the presbytery, and St Edmunds, King and Martyr, Halesworth.
Fr Sloan, a Scot who has spent all his ministry in East Anglia, last summer sought permission to retire in favour of a younger man, but was asked to carry on as no one was then available. He is moving to Leigh-on-Sea, near Southend.
Fr Cramaro will be moving into his new home on Thursday January 26th.
Fr Cramaro came to England in October, 1958."
Will not disturb the Bishop whilst he is at Ushaw. Fr Seahill left on Monday 22 July; Fr Ikegwuenu is helping currently; a holiday priest is arranged; need help from 18 Sept to 14 Oct. Bishop to arrive at Walsingham on Aug 17 and stay until 20th. Been in contact with Mr Hyes, a local solicitor, regarding a water pipe and a Wells property.
Hulme, Gerard Rev (-1978)Fr Langley counters the Bishop's suggestion that Fr Brendan Peters stays at St Peters, with a suggestion that Fr Joe Parr (and housekeeper) come instead. He argues that he does not know Fr Peters except by reputation (.. "probably a characature of reality") and would need to know more. Fr Parr he does know and is willing to help him through his condition and colostomy.
Langley, Gerard Rev (-1992)Fr Langley's deteriorating health understandably gives cause for concern. There are no plans yet for Blakeney. It is a mission station and part of Walsingham/Wells parish, it is not a parish in its own right. Pastoral charge of Blakeney upon Fr Langley's death by another priest is not predictable. Bishop hopes the committee will continue to be responsible for the practical "running of the church".
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Introducing himself as the new Provincial of the Salvatorians. Visited Fr Richmond and states that he has done much to build the up the church in Burnham Market and at the USAF base in Sculthorpe. As St Henry's is in the parish of Walsingham/Wells he asks if the Bishop could do something to staff the area with a priest and remove the doubt Fr Richmond has over his future.
McBride, Malachy Rev SDSJust back from visiting the missions in Peru.
Very happy that Fr Arthur succeeds Fr Richmond at Burnham Market. Fr Richmond is an excellent priest and it is hard to realise he is no longer young. Fully support his move to Massingham.
Informing the Bishop that it is time for Fr Richmond to move after 18 years at Burnham Market (17 at USAF Sculthorpe). Last year at a retreat in Massingham Convent he saw the sisters did not have a resident chaplain. He'd like to do this next.
His replacement is Fr Victor [sic] Arthur SDS
Sorry to lose Fr Richmond; happy to go along with his and the Provincials plans. Thanks him for his valiant service to the people of Burnham Market and Sculthorpe. Looks forward to welcoming Fr Victor [sic] Arthur SDS
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Signing himself as Francis Arthur SDS, he announces that he is now at Burnham Market and Fr Richmond has left on his holidays.
Arthur, Francis Rev SDSFr Richmond is 77. He has been at Burnham Market for three years and is requesting less responsibility. Salvatorians do not have a replacement priest available and give notice that after July/August 1989 they may not be able to supply a priest for Burnham Market.
Clark, Hilary Rev SDSFinancial situation needs clarification. On the telephone the Bishop had said that Blakeney is the VG's responsibility.
Note that this arrangement is for 6 months - a breathing space - whilst we consider what is to be done.
Fr Malacki expects to move in on 6 October.
Fr Gordon Twist (40, French degree, STB from University of Louven "magna cum laude") is being nominated for the Position of Priest-in -Charge at Burnham Market. He will start on 2 May 1994.
