Feast of the Assumption Mass was celebrated at North Creake Abbey on 15 August at 4pm. Fr Finegan gave permission. A parishioner's history is attached along with a newspaper cutting. Included a copy of his new small book for the Advent Season
Dasan, Vima Rev SJSummary of North Creake Abbey History and background to the Mass being said
ParishionerThanks Fr Dasan for the book "Reflections for the Advent Season". Well done to all concerned about the Mass at the Abbey
Smith, Peter David Gordon Rev LLB JCD (1943-2020)Please to hear he is recovering from surgery. The proposition concerning All Saints has been passed to Peter Wilson for his legal and financial judgement. Will need to call the congregation together and lead them to a decision. We must be free to re-order the church for the modern liturgy - you say that Bishop Blackburne is investigating this matter.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Encloses a newscutting [no identification of publication or date] about St Mary's and St Leonard's Catholic Church in Malton. Information provided by the priest there: £150 for conveyancing, "£10,000 spent on renovation and decoration, 5 years to effect handover. Currently 3 years in the process regarding All Saints - it would be wonderful to have a church with history and character.
Isaacson, Cecil J RevAwait the Church commissioners. Hope there will not be a mountain of legal fees. Fr Richmond spoke well that the best use for the church is the purpose for which it was built.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Not keen on paying for the church, or even renting it. The original proposition was affordable if taken steadily. If the Church Commissioner's remain steadfast then we may think of an extension to St Henry's.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)The parish agree that they should accept the offer of All Saints. Fr Richmond has indicated this to Rev Isaacson. Will the Bishop complete the negotiations?
Richmond, Hugh Rev SDS (1912-)Encloses Rector Isaacson's note to parishioners on the gift of All Saints to the Roman Catholics. One "frantic" objector has spoken to by the CofE Rural Dean.
Richmond, Hugh Rev SDS (1912-)Mr Toller has been in touch for agent details to begin negotiating. Rev Isaacson's information has been passed to him. An official form of Redundancy of All Saints is being drafted and will be on public view for 6 weeks. Opposing comments will be investigated; there is a small, vociferous opposition. Rev Isaacson thinks it may be April / May before the Church is handed over. Fr Richmond is making a list of tasks to be done and hopes it will be within his financial scope.
Richmond, Hugh Rev SDS (1912-)Sensitive to the generosity of the Diocesan Pastoral Committee and the Rector and people of Burnham. The project died quietly and the material burden of the lease made it almost inevitable that a halt would be called to the project. Thetford is going well - a larger community helps!
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Comments very helpful. Next time must avoid delays; make firm decisions to avoid costs rising all the time. Might be a good situation for a church sharing scheme - however have not mentioned this to Fr Richmond nor Rev Isaacson - doubt that they'd want to start over again.
