The Chancery office directly assists The Bishop of East Anglia in the pastoral and administrative governance of the Diocese of East Anglia. The Chancery, on behalf of the bishop, expedites canonical matters; collects and preserves diocesan and parish records; assists parishes and priests with civil matters; maintains files on priests and parishes; collects statistical information for the Diocese; facilitates communications with other dioceses and the Vatican; handles requests for papal blessings and tickets for papal audiences; provides information on the Church or directs inquirers to appropriate sources; and oversees diocesan offices.

"The Vatican has granted permission for another former Anglican clergyman, a married man, to be ordained priest in the Roman Catholic Church." Mr. John Heley was CofE vicar at St Edmund's Hunstanton.
Permission had also been given for two other former Anglican ministers earlier in the year.
