Have spent over £40-0-0 on fixtures and fittings but not ready to provide an inventory as bills are awaited from tradesmen. £30 of which is mission property. Delighted with official announcement of Mrs Temple Layton's settlement - a welcome addition to income. Ramsey repairs continuing- - floor far worse than thought. Mission begins on Saturday - visiting every single house in Huntingdon [+4 places] looking for hidden Papists. "... great fun to see the stare and panic ... when I tell them I am a Catholic priest". Received with courtesy and politeness.

Page 1: cover letter for the attached copy of the Hethersett Covenant. Adds a note about the book "In God's Name" which the Bishop has replied to him about. Wishes that he had some certain ways of assuring people that it is nonsense (but "very little is certain in this life I find!").

Explaining that the house is old and work needs to be done, Mr J Limenti has produced the plan attached - feels it should be approved. Discusses internal changes with rooms to make more space. Lack of Parish Hall is acute especially as the Good Shepherd Hall fails to draw people. An appeal will be made to the congregation.

Confirmation of existing convert. Bishop presumes that the priest receiving her did not follow the inbuilt rite of including Confirmation in the rite of Reception. Not normally delegated to priests. Except for urgency. Too late for tomorrow's Confirmation at St George's, Norwich. Bishop sets considerable store on the public administration of the Sacrament.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Fr Wilson and the bishop are not clear about the aim of the plan when it does not show the dining room and study being made into one. Ask the architect to produce a plan showing this. Despite the house being over 100 years old need to remember how much has already been spent and where the money comes from. This is absorbing so much of Huntingdon "savings". Will the church need major work?
