Firm acted for the Diocese to divert a private footpath and agree with adjacent owner on terms to extend property. Both transactions now complete.
Witham, Weld and CoFather Wilson had passed a message from the Bishop to him, and, he'd be grateful to accept position of priest-in-charge at Blakeney.

Finch, Michael Rev (-1986)Fr Crowley came to the parish two years ago, he had been in England one year after having worked in the United States and the West Indies. Thus no NI contributions, but, they [HM Customs and Excise] require £245. Meanwhile a loan from parish funds needed to acquire a new car with part exchange for the old one.
Grace, George E L Rev (-1998)Report on visit to Walsingham to inspect properties there. Little change since his last visit in January 1974. Provides an insurance evaluation for 11 properties totalling £483,000
Toller, Christopher FRICS FSVA ACIArbJust back from Rome. Thanks for the cheque. Have spoken to Mac [Canon McBride], you need to speak to Fr Peter Wilson to sort out the accounts.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)This badly needs attention,. Gerry [Moorcraft] would laugh cynically! A visit to Walsingham is indicated - Michael Ward (solicitor) assures him that all is in order. Roland is an admirable Pilgrimage Director but hopeless with staff. Campbell Steward speaks accurately. Maybe John Drury could be introduced to this difficult area.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)covering letter for authorised request for expenditure form Fr Howlin
Smith, John RevEncloses a letter from Royal [Insurance] [not present]. Lists, in response to a letter from Fr Wilson, the parish activities held in the Social Centre and at St Martha's school.
Hammond, Leo Andrew Rev (1913-1999)Cheque to pay off arrears on Shrine account - will need to re-arrange the investments.
Confusion over where and when Masses are to be said - request confirmation and a list of Masses
£1,000 parish money for investment. Bishop suggested a new car - so bought a Chevette L. Arrangements to be for deprecation against parish funds.
manuscript annotation: "After allowing 13% discount the cost of the car could be put at £2,000"
A Union of Catholic Mothers member is claiming on insurance after a fall at the Slipper Chapel - please forward the necessary forms
Connelly, Roland William Rev SM MA (1921-2004)Deeds found to be passed to purchasers of 68 East Street, St Neots.
Witham, Weld and CoMemo written to Peter Wilson with the sections:
- Shelford Site - Viewed by the Bishop and aghree with Fr O'Toole on selling - no question of a church being built there;
- Estate of Mrs CM Bond Smith - Final balance of this legacy credited to the parish account. Some issue of taxation - PWilson to sort out;
- Personal transaction of Fr O'Toole - Finance a car fro personal bonds. Advice required;
- Loan to St Patrick's, Corby - Fr O'Toole receive some money and asked Parish Committee to transfer it to his old parish. They agreed and £9,000 was transferred. Bishop wishes to make sure this is clearly on the books since that parish is in a different Diocese.
Ad Clerum had underlined need to obtain permission for spending money. Mgr MacBride was vague about the guidelines. Fr Chapman identifies that a lot of maintenance is required: repainting church, presbytery and cottage; rewiring the cottage; addressing damp in the cottage; Hall needs work to meet Fire Service standards; an elm tree needs removing.
Personal note: keeping fairly well, but, off colour at times and things, at times, get on top of him. Not had a proper holiday - so perhaps it is his own fault.
Bishop has asked Peter Wilson to deal with the matter of reimbursing £1,000 to Miss Magoris. Suggests that the Parish might contribute more to the St John's fund. Thanks for the picture - "it was a good occasion."
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)"Dear John" (no name/address): Proposal discussed with Fr Wilson; agreed a good idea; presume Fr John will be able to finance it without difficulty. Don't forget to promote covenants/donations when Cathedral Appeal launched on 3rd February.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Multi-topic letter: Struck through are: Ransom monies; Wilson (Geoffrey); Schools Commission meeting
Oxmoor section: Decision to be made on Oxmoor - to make it semi-autonomous; Liam Crowley ready financially to go at it but it would be "near-to-bone"; need a way through "the tortuous paths of parish priest brinkmanship". Intend, when time is right, to join Whittlesey and Ramsey, and, St Michael's and the Good Shepherd (but present incumbent not on wavelength).
Bishop say Fr Gerry Langley must have a housekeeper - but the house is very cold with no central heating. Bishop has said that Fr Langley is appointed to Blakeney until he can no longer manage. Real issue is Diocesan attitude to the house; without central heating it will be hard of Fr Langley and in due course make it difficult to attract another priest. Possibly £2,000 investment required - parish might fund this if they thought there is an intention to keep a resident priest at Blakeney? Asks Fr Wilson to think about it and get back soon.
Clark, Alan Charles Rev DD (1919-2002)Fr Drury, "within weeks of moving to St Ives", sets out the case for increased accommodation at Mass, etc. Parish Council agrees. St Ives is scheduled to grow in population. Mass currently has 35-50 people standing regularly. Sunday School has 60 children between 5 to 10 - have to meet in the Church. Plan enclosed to Bishop's consideration. Architect, a parishioner, Julian Limentani, willing to give services of his firm and himself for free. He has supervised recent work on church roof.
Peter Wilson and Fr Drury have discussed that matter and consider that the project of £30,000 is possible financially. Notes that Bishop may think this clashes with the Cathedral Appeal but parish has agreed to give £500 to the appeal annually.
manuscript annotation in red ink: "Deeds out at Council (Feb)".
