The three matters claimed by Fr Wrigglesworth are decided by the Bishop. 1. School account - to receive deficit only, not full amount; 2. payment for coal at 16/- per ton i.e. £4; 3. Gas stove to be sent to Fr Wrigglesworth; 4. Repairs to WC to be born by Fr Wrigglesworth as they pre-date Canon Osman.
Just received a telegram that Canon Osman is dangerously ill.

Had called on Mr Nicholl but he had just gone out. The Tablet's article had two errors: 1 the cost was £1274.10.0 not £2000; 2. The church would be build whole not in part. You must have known that one plan would be rejected and the other was too costly. Already told you that your claim is unreasonable as both plans were quite unsuitable.

Bishop is shocked - the area is deprived with widespread responsibilities and he thought it would be an Augustinian priority. Cannot see how to dissuade what must have been a difficult decision. He will leave a decision to his successor - possibly an announcement in Summer with appointments in September 1995.

Repeats the content of the original letter from Rev Dr Franz Fellinger and encloses the interrogatory (not available) to be put to Mr B Boulos. The Bishop delegates Fr Courtney to do this in the presence of a responsible person to act as a notary.
Side 2, Notary's handwritten record of answers to the questions put:
"1. Yes I have been disarrayed.

  1. The accusation is false.
  2. Indignantly denies having been to house of prostitution
  3. Denies walking out with a dancing woman or any woman.
  4. It is not true denies both points of accusation

Subject to Bishop Wood's approval he is quite happy to see the chapel used for Muslim worship. Only difficulty if Christian symbols were thereby excluded from the Chapel and sensitive issues around the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament there. ".. it cannot just be a worshipping area - but must be regarded as a Christian Chapel basically for Christian worship."

Bishop encloses the normal advice for his arrival which contains the form of Blessing, etc., which may be useful. Programme fine. Believes Mgr. Forbes to be an old Scots College companion. Has to leave on Monday. Will try to come for Friday from King's Lynn where he will be for the Pilgrimage on Thursday 12th.
