Bungay: Enquiries have been received about Fr Richard from a Curial Cardinal who may offer him a job in Rome. Suggest Fr Edward Crouzet (55, graduate of Cambridge and Fribourg, linguist, musician, counsellor) who is Chaplain at Cambridge University for 7 years, also, a Downside housemaster for many years.

Thinks the Roman decision on the Bergholt case is very clever.
The two priests for Gillingham are just the quiet simple types Mrs Kenyon would like to have. Delight to help her out after the many kindnesses by her and the family to me over the years.

Suggests that Cyril starts at St Edmunds in Ware as it is within easy distance and on the "system" [train line?]. He will need good and plentiful food. Perhaps he will finish his training in Rome.

Saw Mrs Chaderton Johnson in church - she will be comfortable at Mrs Kearns till her new house is ready (same road as Bunbury's).

Forwarded a cheque to Fr Mayne for the forgotten Peter's Pence. Has the Bishop retrieved the matrimonial papers from Rome whilst there?.

Mrs Isabella Alston Chaderton-Johnson (21 Collingham Road, South Kensington, London SW5): Visited Miss Dunder[?] in Huntingdon and drove with her to Exton [Hall, Exton, Rutland] for tea with Lady Gainsborough. Miss D did well and is wonderfully healthy. Since seeing the Bishop in Rome, she went again this Spring for her pilgrimage - it being four years since being received into the church. Just bought a house in Beccles and asks for an introduction letter for the priest there. Looking forward to helping the nuns and being near to the beautiful and dignified Minster.
