First paragraph details the trials and tribulations of communities in France following severe flooding. Our country being prominent in charitable work and the provision of funds collected will help cement the closeness of France and Great Britain. Every clergyman of all ranks is helping both through prayer and physical acts. Appeal for the relief of the suffering in France through a general collection supported by all of the Hierarchy.

Gifford Hall was leased for two years (to June 1844) with the purpose of establishing an ecclesiastical seminary. "I did expect, in this rather spirited step, to have been supported and encouraged so far as to be enabled to erect in Suffolk something of a regular building suitable for our Seminary purposes. "I am sorry to have to state (absit verbo invidia) [the word envyis absent] that my expectations have been disappointed, and I must be content with less than I expected." He will therefore set up in Northampton instead - requires £1000 which must be possible from those in 9 counties.

"Re 'How the EDP won the right to name cathedral fraudster' (EDP, October 26). It's hard to believe that nobody in authority at St John the Baptist Cathedral has apparently been called to account for the lack of supervision in the case of Rene Mugenzi who stole £220,000 whilst volunteering to be its treasurer." I am sorry to say I can report no progress in my [missing]ment with good[?] Dr Walsh, and much fear that there will be no satisfactory result. As fas as its a trial and disapppointment, I must say, God's will be done. I chiefly regret that religion in our parts should be the sufferer. With sincere regard believe me, Yours truly in Xt. +Wm.
