To say "pro Papa" in Mass instead of named other prayers
Amherst, Francis Kerril Rev (1819-1883)Holy Father has approved a petition from Third Provincial Council of Westminster. Masses for deceased brethren must abide by new rules. A Register for Masses must be maintained in each Diocese. Canon Oleron will receive and enrol names who wish to be entered into the Register for Masses. Responsibility of each priest to be recorded in the correct register (if they move between dioceses) and if so recorded to say one mass each year for those names in the Register.
Holy Father has allowed the use of Dripping and Lard on all days except for Good Friday [previously proscribed at times in Lent].
Discontinuation of prayers for the harvest; the Te Deum to be sung by way of thanksgiving.
Sharing in the joy of our fellow countrymen on the birth of Son of the Prince of Wales; the Te Deum to be sung on 24th January

Pope Pius IX has written in his encyclical letter on Immaculate Conception giving the power to introduce the office and Mass of the Immaculate Conception as used in Rome, to the Eastern District. Indulgences are to be obtained.

Adjustments to the prayers in Mass now that the "raging pestilence of cholera... is now removed from our doors". Fasting and abstinence will now be resumed on the appointed days.

"Dear Fr Peacock, The dog cart will do very well. I shall arrive on Saturday at 4.30. I am willing to dine on Sat. at Mrs Sander's [?] if the dinner do [sic] not interfere with confession work. I will hear confessions on Sat. 8 to 9. I will say the first Mass on Sunday at 8.30. You need not erect a throne. Yr in J.C. +Arthur B of Npton"
