Measurement reports attached for period of April 2005 to February 2006. Findings: no significant movement, if at all; the church leans both towards London Road and towards the corner with the bell tower; the Church floor has a significant fall from the side porch towards the road and into the corner under the bell tower. Conclusion: the church has settled and rotated and is likely to continue in the future. The building may be safely used, Poor bearing stratum is the major factor. Recommendations: consider underpinning; continue to monitor, leave the monitoring discs in place.
Calvert Brain & Fraulo13 separate receipts for a premium paid on 1st August and 1st February annually between 1913 and 1921 [not all present]. Policy number 11281 for Rev E E Garnett paid at a Wisbech agency
Envelope marked "Hunstanton / Garnett's policy / Receipts"
Canon Garnett asks for the Life Insurance policy document held by Canon Tonks in order to endorse it for access to the bonuses. The church at Wellingborough has been repainted and he is planning to obtain new bellows for the organ. Fr Hyde is improving and will recover; is Fr Harris still alive? Canon Garnett has a very bad cold, is not fasting, has not applied for a dispensation as he may be placed on the sick list, which would not help the Diocese.
Garnett, Ernest Edmund Rev (1872-1948)Writing to the Bishop and Fr Bradley. Conrad Rawnsley describes himself as a heretic and religious abstinent but feels he is writing on behalf of the Burnham Market community against moving Fr Malecki on. He is a man of many parts and has demonstrated a "super human" ability to master many practical building skills. It is wrong to move him on before he can enjoy the rewards of his labours. If he were to stay then his knowledge & talents could be used to direct similar constructional and maintenance work in other dioceses.
Rawnsley, Conrad Franklin Commander RN (Rtd.) (1907 -1997)Unsigned letter. Responding to the correspondent of 15 April, the Chair of the Red Mount Committee [Michael Ward] considers the KL Preservation Trust report unfair and expressed frustration at waiting for the grant (applied for in 1976] , the continuing battle with vandals, and the cost of keeping the chapel swept and clean. A lack of expertise in dealing with "the bureaucratic nonsense" of government delartments.

CorrespondentJKH Bolton suggests: moving a tenant to an adjacent property; considering the recent budget; considering clauses for contracts; a rolling programme of work and not a fragmented and piecemeal basis

Advise the Roman Catholics to accept a lease - a flexible arrangement with advantages for both sides. Terms of lease is for the Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance, but expect it be 99 year lease with no premium and a peppercorn rent. Roman Catholics to care and maintain the building; insure it for damage; alteration would be reported to the [Anglican] Diocese; clauses to limit use to worship and prevent disturbance of graveyard; allow relatives to tend graves. Commissioners prefer a sale than a gift.

Banham, R EFr Hammond and correspondent visited neighbours to discuss problem. Trees are too high and not managed, they block the light to their residence and so the church is responsible to sort it out. Observed that to correct the issue requires radical pruning which will entail significant cost - neither the Church nor the neighbours have sufficient funds. This was seen as unhelpful and the meeting ended.
CorrespondentShort report on the condition of the Church and the presbytery.
A number of issues identified for the church - water seepage; stonework needs attention; gas heating causes condensation and feels less warm (winter weekdays Mass offered in sacristy).
The presbytery is in good condition - rewired and redecorated (kitchen and 1 bedroom still to be redecorated)
Writting to Lady Evershed of King's Lynn Preservation Trust. Suggest work required for the repair of the buttress on north east corner. Whilst stabel to date the poor state of the guttering causes water to wash out the mortar and further endanger the buttress. Grants are possible from either AM [Ancient Monuments branch] or from HBC [HGistoric Buildings Commission] - but not both.
Department of the EnvironmentA 95% grant (£4623) is offered towards the cost of repairs at Red Mount Chapel. List of conditions. Advice on payment of grants.
