Window design discussion: Mgr Stark's two designs (one from Paul Quail, the other from Clifford Durant) not acceptable. A Taylor's design more acceptable (although Holy House too dominant and more Anglican). Agreed that none would be put to the Shrine Council in October, but after revision one will be presented in March 1995. Cost approximately 18,000. C Durant would be approached to restore and refit the original window.

  • Mrs Churchill (in Rome with Mr F) - a convert and Catholic correspondent to the Times
  • Mrs Arthur Grundy (Mr F's sister) - very high church and is near the Catholic Church - likely to follow her brother
  • Mrs Vowgood - good friend; husband is a useful country squire who was 3 times Mayor of Godmanchester, is on board of various useful societies.
  • Mrs Towgood - born a Quaker. Interested in Catholic church but not in being a catholic at present.
Am 81 and cannot rise early, fast and go to church at 8.30am on Sundays. Fr Malone brings Holy Communion regularly.

3 friends are going to Rome and would a private audience with the Holy Father.

  • Mrs Towgood - a pious woman with great respect for the Catholic Church
  • Mrs Arthur Grundy - enquiring with real earnestness into the doctrines of the Catholic church - on verge of reception
  • Mr Fordham - (brother of Mrs Arthur Grundy) - is going to be received
They know no-one in Rome and a letter of introduction to a potentate in Rome might help secure this great privilege.
