Currently drawing up a "Re-alignment of Responsibilities" and hence considering where to place Fr Dobson. Not in a supply role but in a place of his own. Bishop says that he is also in good health as a 75 year-old but which also implies retirement.

Deacon Matthews has permission to preside at a Eucharistic Service, which is not a Mass - no deacon can say Mass, indeed the Bishop has no authority in Canon Law to allow it.
Fr Dobson is a member of the Holy Ghost Fathers and is on loan to the Diocese.
Noted the points in your letter and will discuss them with the Dean, Fr Tony Shryane, and my Vicars General

Some very polarised views being received by the Bishop. Concerned that the sick and elderly should be visited. A meeting is to be convened between, Fr Dobson, Deacon Len Matthews, the Dean and the Vicar-General to discuss all the issues and to devise a workable solution for the pastoral care of all parishioners.

Provides a copy of Fr Dobson's letter. Clearly he has fulfilled his pastoral responsibilities - it may be that the old lady in question simply cannot remember the visits. Need to put the record straight and know the truth otherwise inaccurate and uncharitable remarks may be spread. Hope this will ease anxiety about care for the lady.

Going to Rome this weekend. Enjoyed the visitation - rather hectic but fruitful.
Pleased to see the staff at St Martha's and note their moral is low; understand about the lack of a headmaster. Will see if there is anything that can be done at diocesan level.
