Part of Walsingham Shrine

Proving an explanation for not giving a project [not explained] his blessing. His jurisdiction is within Diocese of East Anglia and he cannot give permission for another Diocese. Walsingham is particularly about a place and not a statue or picture (quotes from Mgr Stark's brief history of Walsingham). He has consulted with Shrine Council and his College of Consultors and reached this decision - the project is not appropriate for this diocese and the invitation from Our Lady is to make a pilgrimage to Walsingham, this is not matched by taking a statue around the Diocese.

Until Fr McBrides' letter of 29 December 1994 completely confused with contrary instructions from different sources. Now the roles are clearer. Result of suggestions have produced a well balanced design for a fine window. Have agreed on a meeting with Mgr Stark regarding his suggested alterations. Cannot make changes prior to the meeting on 26 January. Hope your differences can be resolved and the design can go ahead in its new form.

Will enjoy the work involved in removing and resiting the window in the West elevation. Regarding the estimate - need to examine the East window to establish condition, etc. The removal of the West window at 3.6.94 was #12,406.00 plus VAT but this is subject to inflation and current cost of raw materials.
Recommends that the window when installed should be protected and explains his preferred method - pleased to quote for this in due course.
All payments to be met by the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom's Master of the Guild, Mgr Anthony George Stark KHS

Summarising correspondence between him and Mgr Stark regarding the content of a proposed letter head for use on Shrine communications. The use of the phrase "Roman Catholic" may not be theologically acceptable for many, in relation to the Shrine, but without it inter-communion may happen by accident - so its use is necessary for avoidance of doubt.

a conciliatory letter suggesting both working towards the same ends but without letting each other know. Tony Rossi was consulted on the best to do the job, he recommended Mr Fisher - so they'd arrived at more or less the same point.

Mgr Stark's suggestions and involvement depicts his interest, concern and generosity but these interruptions are diverting Mr Fisher away from his design. Discussed the matter with the Bishop and he asks Mgr Stark to stand back whilst the 2nd design will go for decision at the Shrine Council. It is expected that this design will be accepted.
