Re Mrs Ten Broeck. Sending him completed & certified affidavit. Original promise of £125/yr made by her to Fr Allen who reported it to Bishop. 1st payments made by her in cash when resident in March. At outbreak of war Bishop paid on her behalf. Details his claim.

Re claim of Bishop against the Estate of Mrs Ten Broeck. Original promise in claim without consideration & letter of Mrs T Broeck of Aug 3rd 1914 not enough to support claim. Estate may be unable to pay legatees so Executors can't pay without it being passed by Court.

Bishop & Fr Allen had several hours before American Consul re Mrs T. Broeck's promise to pay £125/yr to March for 5 yrs. Her original letter (3 Aug 1914) asking him to pay rest of instalments not found but American court has copy of it & his reply. Request urgent search at Northampton for the original; wire status and send letter by registered mail immediately! Depositions being despatched to America on Saturday...

Re Mrs Ten Broeck. Gives details of her payments & debts to diocese. Presumes it will be alright to say original agreement was made with him although he has no proof of it. He can find no letters referring to payments earlier than December 1912.

His letter not forwarded to Bishop. Assumes it is now too late. Asks for advice. Feels they have right to recover payment from Estate of Mrs T. Broeck for maintenance they advanced to Fr Allen at her request to him amounting to £312. Gives further suggestions.

Executors have done nothing to wind up Estate of Mrs T. Broeck. Until real estate is sold, Estate has no funds. Validity of amount for erecting church at March recognised but not claim for reimbursement. Asks for any 1917 letters from Mrs Ten Broek.
