Our country being prominent in charitable work and the provision of funds collected will help cement the closeness of France and Great Britain. Every clergyman of all ranks is helping both through prayer and physical acts. Appeal for the relief of the suffering in France through a general collection supported by all of the Hierarchy.

An extraordinary Jubilee announced by the Pope on 23rd June 1850. Touches on the [re]establishment of the Hierarchy. 18th December to be a collection for the orphanages at Norwood and North Hyde established following the deliverance from Cholera.

Recommends the appeal for Diocesan Funds. Have concluded the purchase of the site for the future cathedral. His own finances are heavily supported by one [unnamed] gentleman who has invested money to support the Bishop and two others. Management of the Fund will be by the newly instituted Finance Commission - comprising Canons Oleron, Eccles and Seed.

Long desired to provide the poor children without visible means of subsistence (orphaned, parent(s) in prison, destitute, begging). The law requires that they are sent ot an Industrial School - but now can be transferred to a Catholic school certified by the Poor Law Board. Can now commence the foundation of a School for Boys at Shefford in Bedfordshire. Appeal for support via subscription for at least three years.
