Wants to proceed with his incardination into the Diocese of East Anglia. There are some issues which include that the Marists are unlikely to accept responsibility for the appointment of a Deputy Director- suggests using the contract already forwarded by Fr Birch.

Slipper chapel development - Mr Wingate: estimated completion 15 August 1981; 340 seated and 300 standing; Fr Birch's designated Sacristy gifts not included in firm estimate and amount to £20,000.

Revised plans for Slipper Chapel will be presented to the Hierarchy in Low Week (emphasis on Shrine simplicity and realistically priced scheme). Architect, Mr Wingate, presented the revised plans (£326,000 for Slipper Chapel and £9.500 for adaption of Holy Ghost Chapel and Sacristy).

1. "The Shrine Council seeks to develop the National Shrine of Our Lady at the Slipper Chapel and that an architect be briefed to draw up plans for the completion of the Outside Altar, an extension to the covered areas and to take immediate steps to block the prevailing winds and rain."
2. Bishop Clark should appoint a steering committee from the Council to consider the architect's report and plan."

The Architects Michael Wingate and Henry Rolph from Purcell presented to the meeting.
Resolutions:

1. "... Diocesan valuers should survey the two properties [Pilgrim Hall and the old school building] before any further discussions and decisions were made."
2. "... Architects proceed with a larger model for publicity and money raising purposes. It should be ready for the next meeting of the Hierarchy."
