Pilgrimages and Events 1983 – 8 diocesan pilgrimages; Union of Catholic Mothers 70th anniversary pilgrimage; Walsingham Association Golden Jubilee; Metropolitan Anthony leading an Orthodox Pilgrimage to Anglican Shrine
Repairs – requesting estimates; lighting problems rectified; crack in ceiling; carpets fraying – supplier refusing to attend; several designated gifts yet to be bought
Finances - See Mr Warwick's report; not good but hope to improve over the season

Sick in Walsingham – Mgr Hulme sold Southwell House to Sons of Divine Providence; it will be a Home for handicapped people.
Lynford Monstrance – on permanent loan from Lynford parish; possibly made by the same person who made the Wells' parish chalice.
Properties – all sold except Youth Hostel cottage – damp, have to reduce price

Before the Bishop goes to Rome, two questions:

  1. Asking for written approval (for the archives) to confirm a verbal authority to hold the ceremony for the Anointing of the Sick during pilgrimage masses
  2. Bishop of East Anglia has authority from the Conference of Bishops to make an appeal - has anything been done?

Lt Col Philp provided £1,000 to the Development Fund in memory of the Bishop being appointed Prior of the eastern Section of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Reconciliation will not be completed on 6 September, but by the end of September. Asking the Cardinal to bless the chapel and return in the Spring for its official dedication. Some ten Bishops will attend the National Pilgrimage - a suitable occasion to announce the chapel's near completion.
