Starting his fourth year at Seminary, he is writing to let the Bishop know how he is getting on. Has corresponded with Mr Tuck about his son preparing to send his son to seminary. His brother, Leonard and Patrick Trunks return to Oakamoor last Thursday. Tomlinson and Gordon will travel from London on 30th to be in time for the "Entree on 1st October. When he returns to Beaupréau he hopes to work with the second form.

Bishop is shocked - the area is deprived with widespread responsibilities and he thought it would be an Augustinian priority. Cannot see how to dissuade what must have been a difficult decision. Subject to Bishop Wood's approval he is quite happy to see the chapel used for Muslim worship. Only difficulty if Christian symbols were thereby excluded from the Chapel and sensitive issues around the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament there. ".. it cannot just be a worshipping area - but must be regarded as a Christian Chapel basically for Christian worship."

His successor will no doubt be grateful for the small extension. The Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes and the Walsingham Dowry of Mary means that there is a certain movement going on in the first weeks of September. Two men are returning from Rome and one or two available from elsewhere. St Mary's will need two full-time priests at a minimum.

Delighted with the celebration of Fr Hyland's 25th Anniversary of his Ordination. Cannot attend as will be in Birkenhead to attend Bishop Gray's installation and staying on for a few days. He will offer Mass on 8th. Will ask Tony Rogers to represent him.
