Review undertaken at the Bishop's request of the suitability for purchase of 3 houses in Halesworth.
Manuscript annotation: "20 Nov You may tell Agent you will buy [?] subject to J&C planning."
"Taylor" of Southwold who built the Church and Presbytery in 1914 observed that the belfry was infested by woodworm. It was treated and planks replaced by a local man for £16. Upon inspecting the Housekeeper's bedroom (she had nearly fallen through the floor) and the rest of the house he suggests that the whole place (church and house) was infested by woodworm and needed treating. He could do that for £430. Dean Canon McBride suggested that Fr Pritchard contact the Bishop to get approval to spend the money.
Pritchard, Guy Rev PhD MA (-1983)Borough surveyors says there is no right of way to the home. Its use seems to be a concession on our part. Perhaps can offer the lady this approach?
Halesworth Church has woodworm on the outside and needs £500 to £550 amount of work. Permission to proceed?
manuscript note: "Told Jim 2/4/74 to get on with the fence"
Windows overlooking church property: no objections provided they are frosted glass and do not open except at the top.
Right of Way: Unsure about the right of way being requested - there is a private foot path to the old people's home. Awaiting confirmation from East Suffolk County Council.
Workmen in the house - big job to put matters right - no proper outlet and the water from the sink goes straight in to the wall.
Canon McBride visited and agreed that a survey was required. Tony Rossi will come next week. Be ready for a shock, the place is in a state both in appearance and structurally.

I remember the confirmation day; Fr Rudd had arranged a holiday (in Denmark) and the Bp decided to visit but said not to change his holiday. Bp left at 2pm with Fr Rudd leaving at 3pm - must have forgotten the [confirmation] list but will put one before him to send on when he returns.
