Writing to Mr S J Aldus. Just found out Pat Scrutton is in hospital - wondering where that leaves managing the pilgrimages. As this is a Foot & Mouth free area it should not cause any trouble. Abel to steward this year? The pilgrimage numbers can be quite large (1,100 from Northampton Diocese schools) so need to spread the net wider. Hence will be writing to parishes in the Deanaries to ask for volunteers.

Suggest Wednesday July 2nd - arriving on the day as have another appointment in the area. Sorry to hear about Dr Helsham, his Jesuit brother gave a poor account of it. Cyril Banham is doing well - have to curb his enthusiasm to keep him within his health compass.

If your system for catechism is working then continue. But be on hand. Benediction after class rounds it off nicely. Fr Page, I know is not grand, but "creaking doors last longest". He would not bear an assistant and went through that trouble in the time of his predecessor Fr Colpman. I am sure he'd rather retire. Need to wait for a solution to present itself.

Thank you to Fr Mossey and Miss Cooper for the welcome and hospitality on Sunday. Obvious that he had to be at Buckden; but his own bug was developing fast and by the time he reached home he was not well and the doctor has confined him to the house for the next three days.
