Writing to the rector, Rev M Sexton at Hethersett, the Bishop of Norwich reiterates the steps taken by the rector to establish the proposal for shared use of the Hethersett church. He is happy to give general permission to proceed. A copy goes to the RC Bishop of East Anglia. He extends his good wishes for this experiment.
Wood, Maurice Arthur Ponsonby Rev (1916-2007)After receiving the Bishop's approval for the Covenant, the Anglicans now say the wording is unacceptable. They have suggested a new form, Fr Brown has printed it on the back of a newsletter and hopes people will take some interest. Fr Brown will ask Hethersett congregation and community and the Parish Pastoral Council to give their approval.
Manuscript annotation: "NB I don't think I answered this - at least no formal answer ACC."
Page 1: cover letter for the attached copy of the Hethersett Covenant. Adds a note about the book "In God's Name" which the Bishop has replied to him about. Wishes that he had some certain ways of assuring people that it is nonsense (but "very little is certain in this life I find!").

Fr Chapman provided figured to the Vicar-General earlier in the week. Fr Chapman wishes to be relieved of Watton because his health is not robust, finding Sunday mornings an effort and is pretty exhausted at the end. Losing Watton will make a difference because in 1977 it provided £800 and for 1978 it will be more than £900. Fr Chapman is concerned that his expenditure at Wymondham parish exceeds income. Much has been done to the house, cottage and hall and now the Church needs a new rook - £4,050 + VAT. He can manage without Watton and will have to ask Wymondham and Hethersett parishioners to be more generous 0 he thinks they could be.
Chapman, Kenneth S Rev ( -1983)Fr Chapman advising the Bishop that due to on-going works at his Church he will be saying Mass at Wymondham Abbey for first 3 Sundays of December. The Vicar there has already obtained his own permissions. Since Fr Chapman already uses Anglican churches at Attleborough and Hethersett, he assumed that this would not cause a problem to the Bishop.
Chapman, Kenneth S Rev ( -1983)A letter to parishioners setting out the steps taken by Fr Farrell to address the financial problems with the parish: Housekeeper leaving, cancelling Sunday Bulletin, Re-calibration of electricity meters, Hall hire increase, covenants. The reverse side provides an account for the year to 31 December 1982 detailing income and expenditure - showing a deficit of £638
Farrell, H J RevSecretary writing to tell the Bishop how helpful the Hethersett Inter-church Committee members found his talk. Greatly appreciated.
Hethersett Inter-church CommitteeMethodist Church has welcomed the approach to use their church on Saturday evenings. Well suited, so will start on Saturday 3 January 1987.
Attleborough Methodist Church will meet on 6 January [1986] to consider our request. If successful then will start Sunday masses there from February [1986].
