East Suff Gaz 15 May 1917: "HONOURS: Surgeon Prob Christopher Helsham 'who worked with great energy and ability in attending the wounded” to receive Distinguished Service Cross when he was on HMS Brooke which, with HMS Swift, engaged a flotilla of five or six German destroyers, of which two were sunk."
