The £1 million development of a new school to replace St Mary's School starts with the Bishop lifting the first sod from the ground. Head teacher, Peter Cleary, and the chairman of board of governors, John Holmes, observe with contractors. Albion Road site future uncertain as permission to develop it has been refused.

The Ministry are likely to approved the adaptation of the presbytery at Beccles as a School. It must meet the requirements of the Development Plan for little more than £7,500 and less than £10,000. Seniors are still temporarily at St Benet's whilst waiting for the new school at Gorleston to be built, which has a good chance.

There are a few aspects which need addressing: Daylight in the Hall, Kitchen/Scullery space, paved playground. Need to update the sketch to show these adjustments.

Gorleston Church: No alteration was made to the Rood or its height - chains were removed inspected and replaced, as Gill had intended. Sad to see that this [not explained] has been approved and interferes with Gill's Design for a unique church.
Walsingham Window: Designed has not ye submitted his final design incorporating changes - he hopes to take it direct to the [Shrine] Council and will send it on immediately - begs for expeditious treatment to meet Centenary Celebrations dates in 1997.
