Bishop congratulating Fr Allen on the event yesterday [National Pilgrimage]. Well planned and executed; requires a lot of backroom work. He was happy to accompany the Cardinal on the walk.
Worried about the phrase "The Shrine Management" - watch it - this is the Shrine Council and Executive, not Bernard and John. Bishop abhors "creeping power as much as creeping infallibility!".

Bishop Clark has forwarded the letter to Fr Birch - Director of the National Shrine - and asks that Fr Dewis is an advocate for Walsingham as it is part of the national life of the Catholic community in this country.

Bishop Clark happy to know Prior Higham is going to Walsingham. Please advise Fr Birch - who might just want to join in. Need to be crystal clear about one thing (being Diocesan Bishop and President of the ECEW [Ecumenical Commission for England and Wales]): "intercommunion" - "please ... no."
