Deacon Alan Middup writes. Expressing concern about the news of the Augustinian withdrawal from Yarmouth. Deep gratitude to Fr John Reid with his forward thinking and catholic spirit, an inspiration to many. Any new priest should give grave considerations to the Ecumenical dimension in the work in Great Yarmouth.

Fr Maddision writes to Deacon Alan Middup. The Augustinian withdrawal from Yarmouth and the Ecumenical dimension are recognised by the Bishop and whoever is appointed will continue to build and strengthen these links. Quotes Cardinal Hume - we have moved from co-operation to commitment.
Maddison, Paul RevFr Reid offers an rationale as to why he was absent at the Finance meeting and having not provided an explanation at the time. He does not wish to be ungracious. Too much on: parish work, Province work, Ecumenical meetings (2-3 per week in Yarmouth!), 4 Mass centres, 3 schools, Parish administration and demands of the Order. So he missed recording the meeting's date. Sounds feeble but his health dictates somewhat - as an ME sufferer, and the diet is Lenten all the time. Also the departure of Denis Condon from here and subsequently from religious life and the exercise of priesthood - told Fr James at the time.
Reid, John Rev OSARevd Christopher Warner writes. United service in St Mary's to celebrate Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Salvation Army, Pentacostalists, Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists, United Reform, Quaker - all shares in the service introduced and led by Fr John Reid. A real gift of Clergy and congregations to share together in Christian Fellowship. Hence, with real sadness to learn of the Augustinian;s plans to move out. Because of RC participation in things ecumenical he expresses a real longing that whoever comes afterwards feels comfortable with continuing the ecumenical links.
