"With profound admiration the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement are honoured to present the
Christian Unity Award
to the
Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission
to acknowledge its contribution to the Church and to encourage its efforts which are preparing the Churches for a new age of shared life.
We rejoice that you have declared your goal to be the realization of full communion between the Roman Catholic Church and the Churches of the Anglican Communion, and have worked effectively towards this goal.
Your work has shown that Christian Unity is no visionary dream & that the prayer of the Son of God will not be answered apart from such efforts.
'Patience must be allowed plenty of time to do her work perfectly. She cannot and will not be hurried, the fabric is exceedingly delicate; the pattern most elaborate; the Robe of Unity she is wearing for the Son of God will be matchless beauty.' (Father Paul)
Given in memory of Father Paul James Francis, SA founder of the Society of the Atonement and Apostle of Christian Unity, this third day of May in the year of our Lord MCMLXXIV."
